This was a huge surprise. Our tour guide in the UK happened to be Argentinian and she advised us to stay in Purmamarca to avoid a 3 hour drive back to Salta followed by a 3 hour drive back the next day. This was very good advice. Purmamarca is a very quaint traditional village with adobe style houses. I did not expect the luxury of this lovely hotel. Our lodge was comfortable with a bedroom, living room with 2 beds and a small kitchen. There is a spa and swimming pool- the only one so far in Argentina which was heated. The restaurant service is very good and the food is very high quality. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. If you happen to have two trips booked from Salta to the north don’t waste time travelling back to Salta. Stay in this wonderful hotel and spend the time you save on an uncomfortable bus journey in the restaurant , the pool, the spa, the gardens or the wonderful artisan market in the centre of the village. You won’t regret it. It is absolutely delightful.

“Good basic hotel in a good location”

La Comarca is on the outskirts of Purmamarca, a downhill walk to the town of around fifteen minutes (and conversely uphill when returning). La Comarca is on the outskirts of Purmamarca, a downhill walk to the town of around fifteen minutes (and conversely uphill when returning). The grounds are nicely done and have wonderful views of the colourful rocks that surround Purmamarca. The original room we were shown was up some stairs and had two twin beds. We were then given a room on the ground floor that had a double bed and some cooking facilities. This room was spacious and, because of the extra facilities, had sufficient customer accessible electrical sockets. The wifi was good. The bed was comfortable, the air-conditioning quiet and efficient and the shower sufficiently powerful. Breakfast is served in the main building and had the usual selection of fruits, cheeses, bakery products and cooked. The staff are efficient but not particularly friendly. This is a good, basic hotel in a good location for a visit to Purmamarca.

This hotel is in a lovely setting, just an 8-10 minute walk from the center of the little town. This hotel is in a lovely setting, just an 8-10 minute walk from the center of the little town. The rooms were a nice size, featuring a small lounge, dining table, and some cooking facilities (though we didn’t use them). The bathroom was functional but outdated and in need of some TLC. The staff were friendly and helpful when needed. Dinner, however, was exceptional, and the wine selection was spot on. Breakfast was buffet-style—on the first morning, eggs were offered, but unfortunately not on the second. One downside, though not the hotel's fault, was a rave at a nearby hotel on our second night. A well-known DJ was performing, and when we returned from a long day out at 5 p.m., all we could hear was a heavy bass thumping. While not ideal for us, those attending probably loved it. We asked security when it would end, and they assured us it would stop at 11 p.m.—and it did. The rooms could benefit from air conditioning for the hotter nights, but overall, it was a lovely place with a lot going for it.
