We were warm, comfortable and well fed. The room was quiet and bed cosy, the breakfast was well made and extremely well presented. Air con, plenty of bedding, a handy coat rack & we found the fridge very helpful to have. Additionally, Lazarus and I were treated like we were family friends; we had great conversation and plenty of laughter. We wish Richard and his family, including Flow, the very best, until next time!

“Fantastic place to stay”

Richard and Elizabeth are great hosts. The breakfast were first class with 3 options of where to eat, Inside, pergola or conservatory. The room was very well presented and the bed very comfortable. We were there for a wedding in McLaren Vale and it was only 5-10 minutes away. Can't wait to return … lisää

“Cosy and rustic”

Richard and Elizabeth so inviting and the breakfasts were DIVINE. Close to local pub; and only 10 minutes drive from the heart of McLaren Vale. They recommended going to the visitor centre in McLaren Vale before hitting the wineries and we are SO glad we did. Perfect for a comfy couples' weekend

“Not all that we expected”

We stayed here for one night recently. We pre-paid it through Peppercorns' agent, not realizing that the price was quoted in US$. It was certainly not clear. We stayed here for one night recently. We pre-paid it through Peppercorns' agent, not realizing that the price was quoted in US$. It was certainly not clear. Consequently, we paid considerably more than we expected. I see that bookings are now via a different service. The booking included a "Welcoming cheese platter and bottle of local wine", but this was not apparent. The breakfast was from an "extensive menu", which seemed to be very similar to all the other B&Bs at which we stayed in South Australia. On asking about any added sugar in the muesli, the host told me that he had no idea, and didn't offer to find out. The general ambience was excellent, and we enjoyed it. The bed was excellent, as was the bathroom and wifi. There was no hairdryer, nor claimed "homemade" biscuits, but one just makes do, rather than make a fuss. There was a minimal amount of milk provided for tea/coffee, but we didn't discover this until early in the morning. There was no freezing compartment in the refrigerator, but the host kindly froze our cooler ice packs for us. There were spots on the un-ironed sheets and pillow-cases, but they were clean. The host was very amiable, although there was a difficult moment when I asked about the included bottle of wine. I was told that they'd stopped doing it for one-night bookings. I pointed out that it was part of our booking. He said he hadn't got one cooled, but I said it didn't matter, so he unenthusiastically produced one. It left a sour feeling. The promised "pampering" (in a pre-arrival email) was not obvious. Overall, it was an interesting stay, but we would certainly not recommend it, or stay there again.
