Lovely accomodation and surroundings very comfortable bed but I feel that the advertising of 5 minutes outside Mount Gambier is misleading to say the least! Lovely accomodation and surroundings very comfortable bed but I feel that the advertising of 5 minutes outside Mount Gambier is misleading to say the least! The Barn accomodation is at least 8/10 km outside the centre of Mount Gambier on a very busy road which is an easy drive in daylight but difficult in the evening/dark due to local wildlife, Kangaroos, in the vicinity. While there is a top class restaurant on site, mainly serving meats dishes, this is not for everyone. Personally I would prefer to be able to travel to experience local life in Mount Gambier and have dinner there hence my rating of 4.

“Lovely, Out-of-the-Way Property”

Driving into the serene, lush property there is a lovely sense of calm. The gardens really are very special and we appreciated all the time and creative talent that went into their creation. The rooms are large and quite well appointed. My personal pet peeve, the rain head shower, is unfortunate… lisää

Driving into the serene, lush property there is a lovely sense of calm. The gardens really are very special and we appreciated all the time and creative talent that went into their creation. The rooms are large and quite well appointed. My personal pet peeve, the rain head shower, is unfortunately the only option here. I know some like it but I hate it. Please hotels, if that is your design choice, at least offer a handheld or regular wall option for those who feel as strongly about this as I. Aside from the shower, a loose toilet roll holder, and some super perfumey bath products, we had a good experience and a good sleep.

“People Flock to the restaurant. Onsite accomodation is an option”

Large well appointed studio room albeit dated a bit.Different rooms have different aspects of the gardens.Look for a map so you choose a room/location that suits or ask on booking. Restaurant onsite is crazy busy famous for its steak. Our meal was nice but very expensive. The shower in our studio s… lisää

Otherwise a good one night stay.

“Disappointed”

We stayed in a premier deluxe spa suite on Saturday 31st January. It’s not our first stay there as we have family in the area. However this suite, Room 51 left a lot to be desired. We stayed in a premier deluxe spa suite on Saturday 31st January. It’s not our first stay there as we have family in the area. However this suite, Room 51 left a lot to be desired. Definitely not worth the $265 we paid for one night. Stained carpet, frays in carpet joins with long strands of fibre left to get caught in. Bottom sheet not tucked in, I had to do that myself. Bathroom was far from clean, EVERY slat of the white Venetian blind had mould growing on it. Mould on the wall above the shower alcove, dirty stained grout in shower alcove, blocked holes in shower head….so not a very good water flow, mouldy sealant at the bottom of the shower alcove that was lifting in parts, lighting over the vanity was rusty and did not turn on, making it difficult to see for makeup etc., as there was only one other small light in the bathroom. The were round ring stains on the floor adjacent to the toilet where obviously products had been sitting….but this also indicated the floor had not been mopped. The entire bathroom felt dirty. I emailed The Barn a week ago, but did not hear back from them. I have emailed them again today….so we’ll see what happens. I could have said something on the day but there were multiple family members that were staying there that night for a very special family celebration and I did not want to cause a scene.
