“Charming Mount Gambier stay.”

We only stayed 1 night in the White Room which was upstairs and had a view of the town. Colhurst House is a character filled and historic property in a lovely garden setting. It was very spacious and charming. We didn't use the large loungeroom downstairs but enjoyed the Coffee pod machine in our room. The owner greeted us and made sure we were comfortable and answered all our touristy questions. We had a five minute walk to a yummy BYO Thai restaurant that night for dinner. We had a very short drive to the Blue Lake so I would say location was handy.

“Nice old-world charm.”

Staying a night in Mt. Gambier, the beautiful old Colhurst House seemed an attractive option to the usual motels. It is indeed an attractive old mansion, built in 1878 and a delight to spend a night. Staying a night in Mt. Gambier, the beautiful old Colhurst House seemed an attractive option to the usual motels. It is indeed an attractive old mansion, built in 1878 and a delight to spend a night. The room was spacious and tastefully decorated in keeping with the stately grandeur and age. The bed was most comfortable ensuring a good sleep and the house is quiet, it only holds a limited number of guests. If you are upstairs, as we were, a beautiful old staircase leads to your room. The bathroom likewise was tastefully decorated and held an old free-standing bath with a shower head over it. It was quite slippery and an anti-skid mat was provided but one has to be careful in accessing it. Basic tea is provided but with a nice touch a Nespresso machine and pods in the room. Parking was available at the rear of the building off the adjacent street. It is self-catering but a short drive away are plenty of restaurants. The WiFi worked but was quite slow. Overall a nice quaint place to spend a night. The famed ‘Blue Lake’ is only a 5 minute drive away.

“Big room in beautiful old residence.”

This is a beautiful old building located in convenient location. We stayed in the White Room. It was a surprisingly large room with large bathroom. The staff member who greeted us was very welcoming and helpful. We stayed two nights and enjoyed the experience. Our only criticism is the shower over … lisää

This is a beautiful old building located in convenient location. We stayed in the White Room. It was a surprisingly large room with large bathroom. The staff member who greeted us was very welcoming and helpful. We stayed two nights and enjoyed the experience. Our only criticism is the shower over the bath arrangement, which we felt was quite dangerous. Both of us slipped on the mat provided. Water also escaped and so it was hard to keep the bathroom floor dry.

We had booked 2 rooms for 1 night. The hotel doesn’t have a reception. They provide a number where someone available at all times in case of any issues or questions. We had to wait a while before someone came to help us inspite of informing them before hand. It’s answered every time Except the one… lisää

We had booked 2 rooms for 1 night. The hotel doesn’t have a reception. They provide a number where someone available at all times in case of any issues or questions. We had to wait a while before someone came to help us inspite of informing them before hand. It’s answered every time Except the one time we were waiting! Although it’s a really nice Victorian style house turned hotel the rooms are very outdated and really need to be refurbished. While it looks beautiful and unique there’s lot of wear and tear. It was really scary because everything is so dark and quiet around. We felt like we had booked a haunted house. It was very spooky. The constant creaking of the floors only made it worse. When we came back to the hotel at night, the door to the house was open. We called the number provided and he said they would check. Wouldn’t come here again.
