Enjoyed a very relaxed 4 days on Green Island. While most of the island is a national park, it also boasts a comfortable resort with daily buffet breakfast and a restaurant for lunch & dinner, and other food outlets catering to day trippers. As it's a haven for birds as well as tourists it can be noisy at times and the staff are kept busy keeping the guest areas free of bird poop. Otherwise a perfect place for snorkelling and generally relaxing.

“Underwhelmed”

Was a disappointing experience , service was average & food was poor. Island itself is lovely. So old recommend for a day trip versus staying at the resort. Resort is overpriced in particular the food given the quality. They need to pay some one who can actually cook.

Great for a 2 night stay, ok for a 3 night stay. We stayed 4 nights- never again. It’s more geared to serving the hordes of day time visitors than the overnight guests. Great for a 2 night stay, ok for a 3 night stay. We stayed 4 nights- never again. It’s more geared to serving the hordes of day time visitors than the overnight guests. The Good: Great for novice snorkelers. Safe and pristine small beaches. Organised day activities such as snorkeling and paragliding off the island are great. At night, it’s blissfully serene. No sound of cars, motorcycles, planes, trains, other people’s annoying music, or obnoxious loud people or drunks. Just the wind rustling through the rainforest canopy and an occasional bird sound. Spacious rooms with outdoor decks and a decent pool just metres away. Drinks at dusk by the pier is nice. The Bad: Isolation. Once you have walked the perimeter of the island, what else is there to do? Not much. No gym, no running track, no games room, no fauna or creatures of any note to see. The flightless birds there are many, but they are essentially rats with wings. The pigeons and other birds at dusk reside in the trees and make a racket but hardly memorable. The resort food. I’ve had better meals at the local RSL. Attention to detail, lack thereof. I put it down to the laconic Aussie philosophy on life that appears to reign supreme across Queensland generally - “she’ll be right mate.” The place is tired and needs a refresh, furniture, rooms, towels - generally the entire infrastructure. Guest services are basic. The staff are friendly but untrained South American back packers earning a few dollars whilst travelling. The Ugly: The hordes of day time visitors and tourists that make you want to flee to your room and hide until the last returning ship leaves for cairns.

Many benefits come with the resort aswell such as glass bottom boat for free and sunbeds for free on the beach which is great! Even snorkelling in the shallows I saw 2 turtles it was so so cool. The amount of turtles that appear after the day trippers have gone aswell are great, you couldn’t beat it. Also the rooms were lovely very spacious and lots of tv channels to choose from. Negatives - There are birds everywhere, in the restaurant, on the beach, it makes it impossible to eat they even grabbed our sandwich one day and ran away with it. The breakfast and lunch food was very average, the breakfast buffet everyday was extremely ccold nothing was hot there. The lunch food was just average. Every morning it stank of bird poo. For a 4.5 star resort it didn’t act like one. There was expensive drinks and compared to other resorts I’ve stayed at there just wasn’t many options. I stayed somewhere in Greece which had the same rating and had 5 restaurants which a meal at each were included in its booking. It’s definitely not worth the 4.5 stars here. It’s overpriced and by the 4th day there wasn’t really anything to do. Despite the amazing turtles I probably wouldn’t come back.
