“Beautiful location with kind staff”

We had a fantastic stay at the lodge. We stayed in the Mountain view family suite. We had read the reviews before coming and were not surprised that we also had a view of the car park but this really didn’t matter as we were there to explore and not sit in our room. The beds were comfortable. The layout is odd with main bed in lounge room and kids in other room but that was ok. My parents had the accessible room and it was fantastic for them! My dad has previously stayed at Saffire and preferred this experience due to the staff. The staff were all lovely! I was very impressed with their upbeat and kind attitude to us and particularly my elderly parents. The restaurant was ok and I think you just need to remember this is a remote location with a very transient workforce. Breakfast was fine and there was sufficient items despite some customers abusing the staff about lack of eggs. It is a buffet, if you have an early start and want fresh eggs - go early! Also don’t miss out on doing the Wineglass bay hike - amazing

“Lovely Upgrade”

We booked this stay as proximity to Wineglass bay It started well ; we had an upgrade to one of the pavilions which we loved . Really unusual with a free stocked mini bar and some high tech lighting which was impossible to use but fun to try and solve. The guy on reception was hilarious as we tried to navigate the hotel's workings We booked a couple of tours through the hotel which proved quite difficult to manage. The walk and boat ride tour we had to organise as private as there were no other takers but i'm glad we did. The helicopter trip was never agreed by the hotel with the aviation company so we turned up there in the last morning to no helicopter or pilot, The restaurant had great front of house staff who seemed to remember your requests personally but was not backed up by the kitchen. They couldn't keep up with orders on the second night and they seemed to be providing for far too many customers and hence the quality wasn't my top notch Overall it was a great stay for us; without the upgrade I am not sure we would have been as impressed! The normal rooms looked very ordinary

“Excellent Location but Needs a Refresh”

Location: In Freycinet National Park Arrival / Check-in: David welcomed us and checked us in. Room: We stayed in a Coastal Pavilion room. The layout of the room was nice having a separate sitting area as well as an outside deck complete with a outdoor bathtub. I think the hotel itself has seen better days. The entire pavilion room needed to be really cleaned, the outdoor deck and furniture was very dirty. Food: Breakfast were simple with not much to choose from. The coffee was excellent and the servers were nice but seemed to be a bit overworked. We ate at the Bay restaurant one night. The food was some of the worst we had in Tasmania. We ate at Richardson’s Bistro the other two nights and the food was ok. We would have gone outside the lodge, but we did not have a car. Afternoon cocktails on the deck were very nice with an excellent view. People: The standout for us was the desk staff especially David, who went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable even after some snafus with our travel agent. All the front desk staff were very helpful and pleasant. The servers at breakfast and dinner were overwhelmed and rushed. The bartender from Hazards Bar was excellent – I didn’t catch his name but really appreciated him. Massage: This really was a highlight, the two massage therapist we had were fabulous. We both wanted deep tissue massages and they were excellent. These were in room massages. Experiences: We participated in a wine tasting onsite that was good. There is a self-guided walking tour that we did. You take a boat from Coles Bay over to Hazards beach (around 20 minutes) and can then hike to Wineglass Bay. It is a very easy walk that end at Wineglass Bay. It is out and back. You return via boat to Coles Bay. This is a nice walk and a good way to see Wineglass Bay if the water is a bit too choppy for a boat tour of Wineglass Bay. Overall: The lodge is in an excellent and beautiful location. The room was dated, needed a deep cleaning, and the food was sub-par. My opinion is that the Freycinet Lodge could benefit from a complete overall.

“Coastal Pavillions are underwhelming and overpriced. Avoid the disappointment.”

We stayed in a Coastal Pavilion at Freycinet Lodge for two nights in mid-March 2026 and, unfortunately, felt it was not worth the $1,101 per night price tag. We stayed in a Coastal Pavilion at Freycinet Lodge for two nights in mid-March 2026 and, unfortunately, felt it was not worth the $1,101 per night price tag. Overall, the experience was underwhelming and did not meet expectations for that level of cost. The location within Freycinet National Park is excellent, and the room itself was comfortable, but the furnishings were quite minimal. The outdoor area was also disappointing—it appeared unclean and not properly prepared for our arrival, and any potential coastal views were obscured by overgrown trees. We dined onsite one evening, and while the food was acceptable, it didn’t stand out. Service was another letdown, starting with a less-than-welcoming check-in experience, where staff seemed to lack warmth and clear communication. We were also advised there would be no room servicing during our stay, which was surprising given the premium rate. Adding to the confusion, the minibar was restocked during our stay despite being told the first night’s items were complimentary but not reusable across nights without extra charges. Overall, we wouldn’t recommend the Coastal Pavilions at this price point. There are likely better-value accommodation options nearby that offer a more polished and consistent experience.
