“Great Spot to Base Yourself”

We stayed here for two nights in a two bedroom cottage whilst exploring the Port Arthur site. The hosts were very friendly and the unit was so comfortable, with almost everything we needed. It was really lovely to come back to after a day spent traipsing around the Port Arthur site in the heat (the unit had air conditioning). We also loved wandering down through the property to look out over the bay at twilight, it was pretty magical. With not a huge array of places to eat out in the area (particularly suitable for kids), be aware that the only cooking facilities are a microwave, electric hotplate and electric frypan (the latter two not overly hot) and you will need to buy supplies before you reach the Port Arthur area as the local supermarkets don't have a huge range of goods available.

“Excellent”

We only stayed one night for our visit to Port Arthur. The little unit was lovely and warm, spotlessly clean and spacious. The owner turned out to be a fellow West Australian, nice! “Almost perfect”

I started booking our holiday in Tasmania well before we knew that Covid border restrictions would allow us to go. I started booking our holiday in Tasmania well before we knew that Covid border restrictions would allow us to go. So I ruled out any accommodation, tours and excursions that did not allow free cancellation. Abs By The Bay was one such place. Once we arrived on the island I looked again at Abs and saw that it seemed far superior to the place I had booked for a similar price. This proved to be a good decision. We stayed in the Skippers cottage and it was really excellent. It had almost everything we needed or could imagine that we might need. The setting is lovely in beautiful gardens and a short stroll down to the bay. We stayed for one night and the following morning it was 12 C and windy when we had breakfast. The only table and chairs are outside and it would have been a hassle to move them inside where there was little room. So we ate sitting on the bed. This is my only criticism of the cottage. It should have been built a little bigger so that there was room for a table and chairs. Too late for that now but the place is just a little bit too small to be perfect.
