Large spacious room nestled amongst nature with a small balcony to sit outside during the day. It was nice and cosy, well equipped to cater for a long weekend getaway and well located amongst the National Park. Breakfast was an added bonus with both hot and cold options at the buffet and the food for dinner was absolutely delicious. A nice variety of activities and very centralised to access boat trips or local walking trails. Would definitely stay again.

We had read the reviews before coming and were not surprised that we also had a view of the car park but this really didn’t matter as we were there to explore and not sit in our room. We had a fantastic stay at the lodge. We stayed in the Mountain view family suite. We had read the reviews before coming and were not surprised that we also had a view of the car park but this really didn’t matter as we were there to explore and not sit in our room. The beds were comfortable. The layout is odd with main bed in lounge room and kids in other room but that was ok. My parents had the accessible room and it was fantastic for them! My dad has previously stayed at Saffire and preferred this experience due to the staff. The staff were all lovely! I was very impressed with their upbeat and kind attitude to us and particularly my elderly parents. The restaurant was ok and I think you just need to remember this is a remote location with a very transient workforce. Breakfast was fine and there was sufficient items despite some customers abusing the staff about lack of eggs. It is a buffet, if you have an early start and want fresh eggs - go early! Also don’t miss out on doing the Wineglass bay hike - amazing

“A missed opportunity in Freycinet.”

We had a 2 night stay here in Cabin 69, which was at the very end overlooking the bay. Beautiful scenery, peaceful and quite. We had looked forward to staying at this resort but so many missed opportunities by management, (if there is any). Management need to take a good hard look at this resort… lisää

We had a 2 night stay here in Cabin 69, which was at the very end overlooking the bay. Beautiful scenery, peaceful and quite. We had looked forward to staying at this resort but so many missed opportunities by management, (if there is any). Management need to take a good hard look at this resort and see where they lack, as there are so many issues, the gardens need a good clean up, the restaurant/breakfast area is so big, complete waste of space, then they try and push everyone into one small area by the windows. Dinner was worse as you had to sit in this small enclosure. The reception staff were terrific as with the men who made the coffees, the rest of the staff left a lot to be desired and were hit and miss whether you even got an acknowledgment. Breakfast wasn't that good, a lot of the hot food was very soggy, pastries were always empty and you had to chase someone up to restock, trying to get tea and coffee from staff another failure, we just went up to the counter and ordered our own. They only have the one restaurant which for what you get to eat is very expensive, your choices are two, three or chef's choice courses. You cant just buy a main, and they do not like you trying to change their menu. Better off going down to the pub, Iluka tavern, in the main town area. Thankfully on night two we did, and boy was it delicious! Now the suite, as you walk from the carpark you get a bit shocked thinking are they supposed to look this old and tired, roofs completely full with broken branches and leaves. We loved the positioning of suite 69, but boy the verandah and outdoor furniture need some urgent TLC, you need a masters degree working out the light switches and all the hidden cupboards and I mean hidden, look for the black stripe and you will be rewarded whit a cupboard. Would we return, not to this resort as it appears there are plenty more around the area, so unfortunately we do not recommend, but do have a good look at other resorts because the National park was worth it.

Freycinet national park is quintessential Tasmania and we were fortunate to explore its bounty in clear blue skies and calm waters. We stayed 2 nights in a beautiful cabin(69) overlooking the water and tucked away down the end, so very quiet and secluded. And from here the magic disintegrates. We had one evening meal which was fair to good and two breakfasts which were substandard. Engagement with staff was varied when it comes to service. In general we think leadership is missing for it’s responsible for creating the vision of the Lodge - what matters- and for maintaining total customer experience of that vision. Staff are not customer focused so training and supervision would help.
