Crowne Plaza in Hobart is a stunning hotel in a wonderful location. Easy walking distance to shops and restaurants.,Valet parking is very easy. Reception staff are welcoming. Rooms are minimal and spacious. Something other hotels could learn from. It’s refreshing to have surfaces where one can put their belongings. The club lounge is one of the best, the staff simply amazing. Views are terrific. Food selection for breakfast and quality next to none. Great snacks prior to Canapés as well. Highly recommend a stay at Crowne Plaza Hobart. We will return.

“Brilliant base to visit Hobart.”

This is a really good hotel based in the heart of Hobart. First impressions aren’t great as you come off the hustle and bustle of Liverpool Street through a smallish dark lower lobby. But everything changes on the 4th floor level which opens up into a spacious and welcoming reception/bar/restaurant area. The reception staff are extremely friendly and informative and will do all they can to support you, including a room extension if you are catching a mid afternoon flight. Everything, apart from its Main Street entrance is impressive right down to the very cool room cards made of bamboo. The rooms are very well appointed with a large window either overlooking Hobart town and harbour or looking out to the towering Mount Wellington. There is a very clever lighting and window blinds/curtain console by the bed. The bed itself is very comfortable as are the pillows. The shower/bathroom is good and, again very stylish. We stayed at the hotel twice and the first time was lucky enough to be on a package which included being members of the Club Lounge which allowed access to the 12th floor lounge. Here you get free eats and drinks in the evening and a brilliant cooked breakfast menu in the mornings. At 125 dollars cost it probably appeals to business clients (who also get use of a meeting room as part of the package) but we were delighted to take advantage. Breakfast in the main restaurant is also very good but perhaps a little busier. WiFi was a little erratic in parts of the hotel and no water is provided in the rooms. There is valet parking available at 40 dollars a night. The harbour and Salamanca shopping and restaurant areas are a 10 minute walk away. A brilliant place to start and finish your visit to Tasmania.

“Good but minor service issues all add up to dropping you a star”

This was a staycation to celebrate a significant anniversary so we had booked a Premium corner King room and requested a high floor. Our package also included parking, drinks on arrival, early/late checkout and breakfast. I am also a silver member of their scheme which gives me late checkout until 2pm. More on that later. The positives - the room was lovely with a huge oversized bathroom including a large bath tub with bath salts provided. We were given some chocolates in the room as a welcome. The breakfast is delicious with many options. We also like the location in the city within easy walking distance of everything. The negatives - it is always busy out front and hard to pause to arrange valet parking. You also need to give them 30 minutes notice to get your car back. Also note the crazy price of $40 so I would only do it if you can find a package that includes it. They still have service issues - I was advised to call after 11am to check on early check in. I called their reception 6 times before it was answered. The other times, the phone just cuts out after many rings. I had the right number because on attempt 6, it was answered. Not good enough. And then I could not get an early check in at all. In the end, I got into the room about 230pm. On check in the guy was pleasant but forgot the drinks vouchers. Also last time we were here celebrating a birthday, they gave us a bottle of bubbles. Nothing this time (although I was gold on the last stay so maybe silver don't get this?). Finally once again I had an issue with late checkout (exactly same as our last stay). It was about 110pm and we had a late checkout until 2pm confirmed with reception. We had the do not disturb light on and housekeeping still knocked on the door. Looked almost annoyed when I said I had late checkout until 2pm. Why can't you get this right and ensure housekeeping are told about late checkouts? As I said, we had exactly the same issue the stay before. I like your hotel and wish I could give it 5 stars, but you are just not quite there.

“Ok but not great”

Don’t stay at this hotel on a Friday night if you like sleep. We stayed for 2 nights to finish off our trip to Tasmania before flying home but the hotel is next to/on top of a night club that had live music Friday night that we could hear even in our room on level 8 and less loud music Saturday n… lisää

Don’t stay at this hotel on a Friday night if you like sleep. We stayed for 2 nights to finish off our trip to Tasmania before flying home but the hotel is next to/on top of a night club that had live music Friday night that we could hear even in our room on level 8 and less loud music Saturday night. I was going to request to move rooms but read similar reviews where people were moved to the other side of the hotel and it was just as bad so didn’t bother. Check in was quick but dropping the car off for valet at check in meant we had to do a few laps of the block before a space to stop near the hotel was available. Cars are taken off site and you’re asked to give 30mins notice when you wish to use it so just something to keep in mind. The hotel has 3 lifts but one was out of order for the duration of our stay and on two occasions had to open the lift door with our hands when it arrived on ground floor. The room had all the usual things you come to love about a reliable brand and the room was spotless.
