We’ve just concluded a seven-night stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart and were very impressed overall. We arrived late after a long travel day from Perth and were immediately given a lovely room with the floor-to-ceiling windows shown on the hotel website, which we had been hoping for. The night manager on that evening, Charles, was proactive and attentive. Shortly after we settled in, he sent a message to check that we were happy with the room. We were, and there was also a welcome note along with a beautiful block of chocolates, which was a thoughtful touch and made us feel genuinely welcomed. Throughout the week, staff consistently recognised us and were warm and responsive. Housekeeping and front desk were attentive and the stay felt well managed despite the hotel being busy. The location is excellent, an easy walk to Salamanca Place and the waterfront, which made exploring Hobart very convenient. We also enjoyed the pool and sauna facilities. The fitness room was basic but functional for a short workout. We tried breakfast once during our stay and found it somewhat underwhelming for the price, which is why we chose to dine elsewhere on other mornings. A comfortable room, great service and a team that clearly cares about guest experience. We would happily stay again.

“Luxe staycation with my tween”

I stayed here with my tween daughter for a staycation to get away from the Melbourne heat and riffraff. I had booked a package through Jetstar holidays. We were both very impressed by the quality and luxe feel of the still new hotel and the professional and friendly staff. We got an upgrade to a room on the 8th and top floor facing the city centre and we had a beautiful view of the CBD and a patch of the Derwent River. It’s the kind of hotel with crisp bedsheets, plush pillows and bouncy bed, huge towels and waffle bathrobes. The bathroom amenities are nicely scented Crabtree products. We had a few nights veg’ed out with our bathrobes on our king size bed casting movies from our devices onto the 55” TV. One night we were too tired to go out so we ordered room service. Kids mini burgers and chips and smoked chicken Caesar salad which were both high quality and came very quickly. Breakfast was included in our package so we ate extremely well every morning. I would say the variety is limited however it is all good quality. The fruit on the platter was all very sweet, the crunchy breakfast sausages and juicy mushrooms all seemed like they were selected with care and they take pride in what they are serving. There was a separate gluten free section with its own toaster, and skim and soy mil in the cereal section. There was always a slightly too long queue at the self service coffee machine - they could invest in another machine and resolve that congestion. There are many other small points which made the stay very pleasant, the airport skybus stopping directly out front, to the smooth check-in process, the warm welcome cookies, welcome drink voucher, availability of the heated pool and sauna and gym, I could not fault this place at all.

Overall a comfortable stay in a fresh new hotel. Beds and pillows were comfy the room had great lighting. You’re greeted with a warm cookie on check in which is sweet. The restaurant food and breakfast was nice. The pool is stunning: Note only a ladder entrance and exit so if mobility is a concern it’s not accessible. Sauna is standard and fitness room small but has essentials. Location is a short walk or wheel to Salamanca and shops in the CBD. Staff were friendly Coffee 3 out of 5. Wonder to a cafe instead 😉.
