“Good stay”

The room was nice and clean. Had everything we needed and was in a good location and quiet. I would have given a 5 star review but they gave a shower in a bath, I hate these and it was a big step up into it. Pity when they renovated the room they didn’t change this.

Stayed here for three nights, and thought it was OK. Check-in was smooth, and the lady at check-in helped with a booking error I'd made. Stayed here for three nights, and thought it was OK. Check-in was smooth, and the lady at check-in helped with a booking error I'd made. The room was comfortable, facing the road; but we did not hear any traffic noise or other disturbances. The hotel is a short walk from the CBD, and all its shops/restaurants. It is also directly opposite a nice park, which is great. Breakfast was average, but sufficient! Lots of free parking available on site, which is good! As Platinum members, we also received a bottle of wine and some chocolates.. Nice and appreciated.

“Overnight only”

The hotel was clean but in need of some upgrades. The food was bland. The breakfast was boring and overpriced. All that could be forgiven if the staff would only smile.

The Standard King Room we were given was in an awful position, directly in front of the stairs from the car park and the cleaner’s store, so it was impossible to have any privacy with the curtains open. The Standard King Room we were given was in an awful position, directly in front of the stairs from the car park and the cleaner’s store, so it was impossible to have any privacy with the curtains open. Sam on reception was great, though - nothing was too much trouble - and she gave us a couple of other options, including an upgrade. But our allocated room was the only one with a bath, which we really wanted after a week of hiking so we were stuck with it. Aside from the view, the room was ok I guess. Not much storage - the drawers had been removed from the chest, and one of the wardrobes was screwed shut to prevent use. The bath was really shallow, and the shower would have been fine for anyone 170 or less. WiFi was decent, and price was good. Overall, more or less what we expected from our two night stay.

“A former motel now a Mercure”

Property was of similar appearance to the neighbouring motels before Accor branded it a Mercure. The nicest rooms face Brisbane St and City Park. We got Room 213 which also has more space. Property was of similar appearance to the neighbouring motels before Accor branded it a Mercure. The nicest rooms face Brisbane St and City Park. We got Room 213 which also has more space. The bathrooms are abit squeezy with a tiny washbasin and a massive spout. Good water pressure and comfy bed. A good feature is that the windows can open to allow fresh air in esp in the cool evenings. Reception is not manned 24 hours and the attached restaurant doesn’t operate on Sundays.
