Please note that this Ecolodge is warm, has good wifi, and doesn’t require a massive walk to get to the top. The showers are warm, too. It is about a 15 minute walk to town, but the peaceful nights are worth it. The staff didn’t speak much English (really we don’t speak much Spanish to be fair) but they do their absolute best to make you feel welcome and provide a great Desayuno. This is not a five star resort but it is a hard working lodge run by some great people and i would love to return one day.

“Nice quiet location away from the hustle and bustle”

The rooms are in small bungalows overlooking the lake close to the lakeshore. You have to walk uphill from reception to the rooms (be aware all are uphill) and we got totally breathless every time due to the altitude. The rooms are in small bungalows overlooking the lake close to the lakeshore. You have to walk uphill from reception to the rooms (be aware all are uphill) and we got totally breathless every time due to the altitude. It takes about 20 to 30 mins to walk into town, or 5 to 10 mins by taxi (15 B.o.B). The road isn’t paved and is unlit so not a good idea to walk at night. It is in an enclosed compound so there is safe and ample parking. We had a double bungalow which was quite nice, cozy and mainly clean, but let down by a clump of hair on the floor that possibly was stuck to the bedside mat – yuck! We always had hot water for the shower but the room itself was very cold at night and did not have any heating. On our second night we asked reception if they had a heater and lo and behold they lent us a small fan heater. I don’t know why they don’t put heaters in the rooms in the first place as it is normally cold at night. Breakfast was okay. Pretty much the same as all hotels we stayed in Bolivia. The coffee was very good though and came with piping hot milk. On our first day we were not offered any eggs so thought that was normal as it was advertised as a continental breakfast. However on our second day we were offered eggs by the same lady which was strange. Maybe she forgot the previous day? We were happy with our stay overall and glad to be out of town as Copacabana is not a particularly attractive town. It only really exists to provide tourist services with no actual Bolivian normal life going on. One complaint about the lodge was that they charged us 15 B.o.B /kg for laundry (normal Bolivian price 9-10 B.o.B), 24hr service, and when we got it back it was still really damp. We were leaving to travel to our next destination so had to pack it damp and hang it up at our next hotel to dry. It was of course extremely wrinkled. I found that very annoying as we had previously taken stuff to a laundry ourselves for less money, clothes ready the same day, everything dry and folded and not wrinkled. I understand a hotel charges a bit more but at least it should be dried properly. Other than that I probably would stay there again.

“We are very content ”

We have been here one night and are really happy with this place. It has been better then expected. The staff specialy Raul was polite and attentive. One can always have some cocamate or trimate at the loby and the garden is amazing! The rooms are comfortable, big and light. I sleep better then at… lisää

“Beautiful place, but not very eco!”

The place is really beautiful, it has a pretty garden and the cabins are good looking too, made of clay walls and straw roofs. They are very cold if you are staying in the rainy season. You can get heating in the rooms if you ask for it though, which works fine. The showers may or not be working, s… lisää

The place is really beautiful, it has a pretty garden and the cabins are good looking too, made of clay walls and straw roofs. They are very cold if you are staying in the rainy season. The showers may or not be working, same with toilets (it happened to us that we had to use another toilet, because it didn't work and our last night the showers stop working too). BUT they are better toilets than anywhere else in Bolivia, that's for sure. They didn't have any recycling, nor a very eco-breakfast, the water I don't think was very eco either. So, they have much to do in that front. Also the wifi was not working too well, we think it might be because of the walls being so thick. Overall a nice place to relax, but don't except to get what you pay for.
