I stayed at the Hotel Casa Blanca Business and Spa while on a short business trip to Recife in North East Brazil. Although quite a distance from the centre of the city and commuting can be an issue, the hotel was excellent in terms of cleanliness, food and friendliness of its staff. It has a private beach front and good in-house facilities for the business visitor. The front desk can arrange any facility you require and the cost is extremely reasonable perhaps dictated by its location. Planned developments for this area of high-potential will make this a meaningful choice in the future.

I have just spent 5 nights at Hotel Casa Blanca and thoroughly enjoyed it. A few of us were on a UKTI funded trade mission and we found the hotel almost the perfect place to relax after a busy day. It is situated at the end of a run-down area so you need a car or taxi to venture out, but within a few minutes' driving distance there is the Veneza Water Park and the fabulous Maria Farinha beach and Itamaraca Island. The main downside is the distance from the business centre of Recife/Boa Viagem and Suape port, which can be a couple of hours in rush hour traffic, but the hotel is like an oasis and is the perfect place to unwind. Rooms are clean and spacious with a veranda or balcony and mini-bar, the food is very nice (there is an extensive menu) and the chef will try to accommodate preferences, such as when we all wanted pizzas, and the staff and management are extremely friendly. Buffet breakfast has loads of local fruit and juices and there are plenty choices to keep you going through the day. The small pool is nice for cooling off, thre is a kids' pool down in the games area, which includes a multigym, and the beach is small, but clean and safe. Hotel manager Koen de Rijcke is multilingual, proactive and invites criticism, both constructive and negative, and you have the added bonus of the chance of meeting the players of Nautica FC who use the hotel for a few days before their matches. Prices are reasonable - I personally ran up a tab of 300 Reals (£100) over 5 days including evening meals and a fair few Heinekens! Not really sure what the negative reviewers are looking for, unless they want to be nearer the action. I would recommend it and say "watch this space" regarding the downsides I have mentioned, because the rate the area is developing I suspect that it will soon be pretty prosperous. “Spa, Maybe. Business, No.”

Found this place north of Recife, about 30 clicks out. I'm not sure why they call it Business & Spa, 'cause it sure has nothing a business traveler needs, like decent lighting in the room, a lamp on the desk, reliable Wi-Fi... little things like that. Found this place north of Recife, about 30 clicks out. I'm not sure why they call it Business & Spa, 'cause it sure has nothing a business traveler needs, like decent lighting in the room, a lamp on the desk, reliable Wi-Fi... little things like that. The room lighting was more what you expect to see at a 'love motel'... rope lights around the perimeter of the room and the bathroom. If my wife were along this trip, we would have checked out immediately just because of that. Air conditioner barely could keep the room in the low 70's (22C), despite being on all the time. Also, the bulb in the bedside lamp kept flickering. It was never changed despite a couple request to do so. All that being said, the mattress was very comfortable, the breakfast buffet was a little above average, as was the dinner buffet, and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly
