This is a small, modern, clean and comfortable hotel in a great location, easily accessible by public transportation from the airport. The room in which I stayed had great WiFi and air condition, a very good electronic safe attached to the wall, hot water and clean, modern decor. The bed was comfortable, and the breakfast adequate. Even though I did not reserve breakfast, the hotel offered it to me as a courtesy, which was very nice of them. The location of the hotel is great - right at the top of Rua da Instalacao. There are several bus stops just north of the street, which include a direct bus from the airport and buses for Vila Buriti (for the Meeting of the Waters, see a separate post) and Ponta Negra (for the CIGS zoo, Ponta Negra beach and Marina Davi for the boat to the fascinating Rubber Museum). The downtown area, with the cathedral and the port, are a short walk away, as is the Amazonas Theater. The parallel street, Rua Lobo D'Almada, is one of the best places for night life in Manaus, with people sitting in outdoor restaurants and bars, some of which play live music. I was there during the weekend, and it was busy and felt safe, but I don't know how it is during the week. There is a seedy aspect to the street, just like the Red Lights district in Amsterdam, but it does not feel aggressive or dangerous, since most people seem to be there just to chat, eat and drink.

We stayed here one night before our jungle excursion and taking a slow ferry from the port. It is close to the port and somewhat close to the center. From outside it does not look like the Raffels in Singapore, and when you enter the lobby, you might think that you are at the cashier of a movie house, there is no elevator, and the stairs leading you to your rooms are probably to narrow for you and your suitcase. From outside it does not look like the Raffels in Singapore, and when you enter the lobby, you might think that you are at the cashier of a movie house, there is no elevator, and the stairs leading you to your rooms are probably to narrow for you and your suitcase. But then the rooms, at that's the main thing, are clean, with good wifi reception, refrigerator with agua and cerverjas, TV with just Brazilian channels and even a safety box that can be very noisy if you turn the lock in the wrong direction..the bathroom is standard, but ok, maybe other guests will be more lucky, I have not managed to get hot water in 3 days.. Receptionists only speak Portuguese. The great thing is the view: from my bed I could see the cupola of the great Amazonas theatre. And on top of that, the location: you are in the middle of the cake: one road going to the docks, the mercado and downtown, the other road leading to Sebastiao square and the Teatro.
