If you want to experience an authentic house from old times, be in a great location (5 min from old downtown but away from the noise) and still be confortable this is the place. Very good service, rooms at right size, clean and with a great view (just beside the church and by the side of Aleijadinho´s house). Ask one with balcony. Breakfast has fruits, eggs (you can choose your way), juices, variety of breads and cakes, and of course, tradicional cheese bread.

The hotel is on a great location in a quiet street in Ouro Preto, and most important, there's parking included. The staff is very friendly, and helpful, the rooms are clean, and there's a nice breakfast.

Without a doubt, the staff is what differentiates this hotel and makes it a nice place to stay. Each staff member was very helpful and kind. Without a doubt, the staff is what differentiates this hotel and makes it a nice place to stay. Each staff member was very helpful and kind. Our room was OK, including lots of space and a bathroom with double sinks AND 110 voltage plugs, but it was also noisy and had no view to speak of. In the late afternoons we would sit in the lobby/lounge area and share a bottle of wine while reading, which was nice. We ate at the restaurant one night and it was pretty good, even though it was staffed only by one cook and one waiter. The breakfasts are generous and tasty. Next time we visit Ouro Preto, however, we are going to search for a place with an outdoor patio or balcony so that we can enjoy the wonderful weather and views of Ouro Preto while we relax. However, we have no complaints about Hotel Luxor. Oh yes - one thing you should know -- it is a long, steep walk up to Praca Tiradentes (and back down), especially if your knees are starting to fail you!

“Charming with a great position”

We loved this hotel. We had read reviews that there was Road noise but honestly the road outside is generally quiet. We were given a charming little mini suite with a view over a tiled roof to a church beyond. Beds were comfortable and the room very quiet. We ate in the restaurant on two evenings.… lisää

We loved this hotel. We had read reviews that there was Road noise but honestly the road outside is generally quiet. We were given a charming little mini suite with a view over a tiled roof to a church beyond. Beds were comfortable and the room very quiet. We ate in the restaurant on two evenings. The first meal was excellent but the second, spaghetti bolognese was bland and tasteless. Breakfasts were excellent with delicious fresh baked cheese puffs which are a speciality of the region. Orange juice freshly squeezed although the kitchen staff were not quick to fill up the empty jug. One of the best things about the hotel is its location. You have a short walk up the hill and you are in the main square. I’ve read a few reviews about the streets being quite steep ..yes they are but we are in our sixties and had no trouble.. they are a joy to explore. Overall a good hotel and one I would book again. One minor gripe. In the lobby seating area they play canned jazz. Gret if you like jazz but nails on a blackboard for those who don’t.
