“Great Location, Friendly Staff”

Took a taxi from GRU and was only R$115. Not bad for a 40 minute cab ride. Upon arrival to the hotel, the staff was very friendly and all smiles. The front desk staff didn't speak much English, but what can you expect from a country that primarily speaks Portuguese? They tried their best to communicate, were patient with the language barrier, and even used google translate's spoken app to try even further. The second day, there was a member of the front desk staff that spoke pretty good English. The location was unbelievably good (don't quite understand others that say otherwise) as there were many bars, shops and small convenience stores within steps of the front door. I felt as though this was one of the better neighborhoods I visited in the whole city in terms of safety. A few sketchy people around but at no time did I ever fear for my safety. Just a few homeless hanging around the streets but they never approached us or bothered us. I freely used my cell phone and had no problem pulling it out. Republica Metro station is right down the street (3 minute walk) and that will get you anywhere you need to go in the city. There is also a very nice park right down the street as well. I will say that the park was a little more unsavory in terms of the people in it, but still not bad to walk around in the daytime. At night, the streets are very lively, so if you are a very light sleeper, maybe bring some ear plugs, but even light sleepers might not find this necessary. If you are like me, and like that kind of thing, it is the perfect location! The room was spotless, and a very fair size for the price. The price to value ratio was very good. It's no Ritz Hotel or Hilton, but still very nice and clean. Water in the bathroom was hot and pressure in the shower was awesome! Beds were comfortable and there was a mini fridge in the room. Our room had AC and it worked very well. The breakfast was awesome and included scrambled eggs, several kinds of fruit, buns, cereal, cold cuts, cheese, some kind of sausage dish, coffee, tea, milk, several juices, and a few other little breakfast things. It was included in the price of the room, as was Wi-Fi. Overall it was a great stay at the Soneca Plaza Hotel. For the price, it was awesome value. If I came back to Sao Paulo, I would ABSOLUTELY stay here again.
