“Excellent in every way”

My partner and I and friends stayed for a night while on a Brazil road trip. Quick check in, Excellent staff, parking available. Rooms spacious and clean. Comfy beds. Great bathroom facilities. Great location. Iconic hotel in Brazil history.

We stayed 2 nights here and were so impressed. The hotel has been beautifully maintained in the historic Art Deco style, yet the rooms are modern and comfortable. We paid a little extra to have a room at the front with small balcony and beautiful view. The staff here are wonderful - so friendly and helpful- great service. The breakfast is good and they are quick to replenish any items that run low. Highly recommend this hotel and would love to return

“Excellent stay in Historic Petropolis”

Built in 1930, the hotel was reopened in 2011 after a 45 year hiatus. It's like the golden age of glamour in the lobby. Built in 1930, the hotel was reopened in 2011 after a 45 year hiatus. It's like the golden age of glamour in the lobby. Checked in promptly despite turning up 2 hours before the 3pm check in, which was very much appreciated. We were a party of 4, 2 rooms. Both rooms identical….spacious, clean, quality linens, VERY comfy bed, effective A/C unit (saving grace since it was 34C outside being summertime). Fast WiFi though a little annoying to have to login every few hours (I thought hotels had abolished this way of logging in a decade ago). Shower had excellent pressure (there's a clasp to alter the angle of the showerhead). We came by car and there's free parking with valet service which is very helpful and also very cheerful valet man who helped us with our bags too. Nice touch! Breakfast was simple and not anything to write home about though that is typical in Brazil. We're not really breakfast folk but enjoyed the coffee as a pick-me-up with a slice of toast and jam. I'd recommend to couples, folk on business and families alike, whether for an overnight stay or longer - has everything you would want and need. The Hotel is situated in the heart of Petropolis' historic centre so can walk everywhere within the historic town. Overall can only but give the hotel 5* and would certainly stay again if ever in the lovely town that is Petropolis. To the staff at Grande Hotel, keep up the great work!

“Good choice in Petropolis”

We stayed here for a single night in mid-September 2019 and were not disappointed. We had two single rooms, one facing the street with a cute balcony, at R$450 each, with breakfast. The hotel is well-appointed and the rooms spacious and well laid out. It is not the height of luxuty but it is sufficient if you want to be in the centre of the town, a classic, rather old-fashioned hotel. Breakfast was very good, and valet parking easy and convenient at no extra charge. Petrropolis is not the most exciting city, but it has pretty streets and is of great historical interest - a good stop, about 90 minutes (depending on traffic and weather: the road gets very narrow, steep and windy in parts) out of Rio if you are travelling later into Minas Gerais as we were. The main reason we stopped here was to see Casa Zweig, which was, sadly, a disapointment as nothing of the interior of the house remains and no atmosphere of the post has been preserved in any way.
