“Impressive location, good stay”

I stayed here one night during a Dolomites cycling trip. We stayed in the smaller Tavernetta building, not the main castle. I stayed here one night during a Dolomites cycling trip. We stayed in the smaller Tavernetta building, not the main castle. It's certainly a fun impressive location, but one doesn't see much of the castle interior, except maybe if one is here for an event. My room was fine, and quite large, but did get pretty warm in the summer evening - at least there was a nice large balcony. We did get access to the spa's outdoor pool in the afternoon, which was quite pleasant. Dinner at La Tavernetto was fine, but service was a bit hit-or-miss - we might have been less happy without our local guides intervening. Breakfast next morning in the old castle kitchen garden area was fine.

Is a HUGE compound. Room is far from the breakfast or spa area. Room size is quite small, no electric kettle, cups (just plastic cups) or hangers you can take out to dry your clothes. Considering this a Premiere hotel? I wouldn't rate it at this level. Spa is a nice place but they do not provide ba… lisää

Is a HUGE compound. Room is far from the breakfast or spa area. Room size is quite small, no electric kettle, cups (just plastic cups) or hangers you can take out to dry your clothes. Considering this a Premiere hotel? I wouldn't rate it at this level. Spa is a nice place but they do not provide bathrobe in room so is such a hassle to get to the spa. And if you only swim (nice outdoor pool but cold), there's no bathrobe provided. You have to insist you're using the sauna and steam area then you can find a bathrobe. Breakfast is very average. I wouldn't stay here again.

We thought this place was so-so. The building itself from the outside is striking and with beautiful surrounding countryside and with an interesting history. But inside it was pretty ho-him. We thought this place was so-so. The building itself from the outside is striking and with beautiful surrounding countryside and with an interesting history. But inside it was pretty ho-him. We paid for a room with a view so we had a balcony furnished with a little rickety metal table and it was not particularly clean or charming. The bedroom was fairly big by Italian hotel standards and had okay lighting ( we are big on that) and was adequately clean, outfitted in its own antique way. The breakfast was just okay- would have expected better quality for the price of the accommodation. The biggest let down was on service- and we are not high users of service but basically we could have died in our room and we don’t think anyone would have noticed! The check-in is in another building and after that you don’t interact with anyone except the people who make coffee at breakfast. No one explains anything to you ( like how to traipse through an unlit dining area to get to breakfast if it is raining!) My research suggested there are not a lot of higher end places in this area but I’d still look elsewhere than this if I were to go back to Friuli.
