“Excellent grand dame hotel”

Like many grand dame hotels, she could use a bit of a face lift, but despite the age, she is well cared for and the service is impeccable. Like many grand dame hotels, she could use a bit of a face lift, but despite the age, she is well cared for and the service is impeccable. The rooms are small and the bathroom smaller still, but both are clean and functional. The is a quaint old style bar and the food is good. The only downside is breakfast. It was awful! The eggs were so under cooked, they were liquid…no solids! The rest of it was sub-par. What was particularly disappointing was the fruit was awful. We had just come from Vicuña and the drive is through nothing but agricultural fields complete with roadside fruit stands. I recommend the hotel, but skip the breakfast.

“Very nice hotel”

This hotel is within walking distance of the plaza, restaurants and shopping. It is a very nice, clean hotel with a full service restaurant and bar. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable with all the amenities of a nice corporate hotel. There is also a lovely courtyard with a pool for the warm… lisää

“No air conditioning - Otherwise very good”

How crazy that a hotel like this has NO Air conditioning. If you open the window lots of street noise. Listening to someone call out “I’ve got ice creams” all day. Windows not double glazed. They supply a near useless fan. Otherwise it’s a decent hotel. Very good if limited parking. Great staff and… lisää

They supply a near useless fan. Otherwise it’s a decent hotel. Very good if limited parking. Great staff and reasonable food at reasonable prices. Good wifi as you get to expect in Chile. If it had air conditioning an easy very good if not excellent.

We came here because the hotel in Zapallar claimed no reservation so we booked this hotel from there and drove 350 kms to La Serena. For drivers. We came here because the hotel in Zapallar claimed no reservation so we booked this hotel from there and drove 350 kms to La Serena. For drivers. Parking is to the side of the building and not off the main road, or though there are underground spaces too. Therefore you need to attack the hotel from a side road not the main! Staff pleasant. Downstairs hotel bar does food. Restaurant seems to do a fixed 3 course for 17,500. We chose to eat in the bar and the food was very acceptable. There’s little choice of restaurant within walking distance, most are 6km away by the beach. Room overlooked the main road but as no 2 stroke motorbikes it was ok. Would suggest a pool view if you can. The room was perfectly good with TV, comfortable beds and pillows, clean, fan and fridge. Apart from missing bath plug, shower et al was good. Breakfast perfectly good. La Serena is an attractive town and worth a stroll. If you happen to need a bed, this hotel is good.
