My wife and I only had one night at Casa Molina, a short layover en route from the Argentinian border (driving from Bariloche) and the Puerto Montt airport for an early morning flight. This is a wonderful place, with an incomparable view toward the volcanoes across Lago Llanquihue, a very friendly and helpful staff, and very good if not great in-house dinner. It feels quite isolated, which we liked. I could definitely see spending a few days here and borrowing a bike to explore the town. Otherwise, the taxi from the airport was easy enough. If you want a nice place to stay in Puerto Varas, this is it. I do recommend the big room upstairs with the full wall of windows.

Lovely boutique hotel, which, being a little way out of town, is set in peaceful and quiet surrounds. Unfortunately for us the weather wasn’t particularly great so we did not get the views across the lake but we were able to enjoy the beautiful gardens in between showers. Lovely boutique hotel, which, being a little way out of town, is set in peaceful and quiet surrounds. Unfortunately for us the weather wasn’t particularly great so we did not get the views across the lake but we were able to enjoy the beautiful gardens in between showers. The one downside was that there were limited coffee making facilities, and no tea making facilities, in the rooms. On checkout the hotel were insisting on charging for cups of tea that I had to go downstairs first thing in the morning to collect.

“My favourite hotel in the lakes region”

Spectacular setting on Lake Llanquihue, the volcano Osorno looming in the distance like a god, possibly friendly. The hotel is tranquil, immaculate, beautifully run, friendly. Spectacular setting on Lake Llanquihue, the volcano Osorno looming in the distance like a god, possibly friendly. The hotel is tranquil, immaculate, beautifully run, friendly. Our room (bedroom plus living area) faced the lawn and the lake and had its own patio. the grounds are beautiful, bursting with hydrangeas, and the beach below, with a jetty, is pleasant and private. The hotel food is excellent and spared us having to venture out at night to Puerta Varas. The local road to the hotel is extremely rough so although you don't absolutely need a 4x4 with high clearance, it helps ease the journey. There is a splendid black rabbit who lives in the grounds, highly picturesque.

“Beautiful small hotel with devoted and attentive staff”

This small hotel was a wonderful find, beautifully styled and decorated. The friendliness of the staff more than compensated for the relatively gloomy weather (rain and drizzle for 4 out of 5 days) in the austral summer of the Lake District in Chile. This small hotel was a wonderful find, beautifully styled and decorated. The friendliness of the staff more than compensated for the relatively gloomy weather (rain and drizzle for 4 out of 5 days) in the austral summer of the Lake District in Chile. We also recommend to non-overnight the kitchen for fine dining, not so easy to find in this part of the country. And a very special shoutout to Geraldine and Marcus, who went above and beyond the line of duty to make sure we were picked up at the airport around 2 AM (after flight cancellations) and safely chauffeured to the hotel.
