“Little haven away from the crowds.”

Wow, what a lovely little haven away from the crowds and the overhype tourist traps. Had a real family free, and made you feel at home. Some lovely little touches with drying rack, free washing machine, books, DVDs and gave you time to chat. Loved it. Thank you for a great stay, will be back.

We only had 2 nights at Rarotonga at the end of our Aitutaki trip so wanted to stay close to the airport. The Cooks Oasis had everything you could need. We only had 2 nights at Rarotonga at the end of our Aitutaki trip so wanted to stay close to the airport. The Cooks Oasis had everything you could need. It was tidy, bed was comfy, had cooking equipment and best of all had a laundry and detergent you could use free of charge with drying racks in each room (bonus!) The bus went from the end of the drive way which was handy and we ate both restaurants next door- the anchorage and Kikau Hut which were both delicious and could walk straight back to out accommodation which was fantastic.

“Comfortable Stay”

My wife and I are Americans from Los Angeles who spent a total of 11 nights at the Cooks Oasis during our Cook Islands vacation. We agree with other reviews about the nice villas, friendly staff, and the good location of this property. We first spent 5 nights in Villa #4, and, after a few days on Aitutaki, returned to the same villa for another 6 nights. This villa was well-equipped with modern fixtures in the kitchenette and the bathroom. The AC worked well and bedding was comfortable. We liked having the covered porch area where we left beach toys, bathing suits, and towels to dry. Although we ventured to Muri Beach on days without rain, it was always convenient to take a quick dip right at Black Rock Beach 50 meters from our villa. When conditions were optimal, snorkeling was pretty rewarding among the shallow waters and the corals. Early morning or late afternoon walks from our villa on the sand towards the Edgewater Resort was in our relax-in-nature routine also. We ate breakfast almost every day in the villa. Many lunches and suppers also, as we seemed to have leftovers from big meals in restaurants. Talking about restaurants, we repeatedly visited the nearby Anchorage and Kikau Hut, both just a few steps away. Delicious food offerings plus a very comfy vibe in these places. We were glad to talk with our host Marianne so frequently. She and her small crew did impress us lots with how they kept the Oasis property tidy and the guests happy. The almost daily exchanges with her and her husband Wise definitely added an “at home” feel to this stay, not to mention allowing us to learn a bit of the locals‘ stories. I would recommend that you try staying here when visiting Rarotonga.

“Fantastic family trip!”

We stayed at Cooks Oasis for our first trip to Rarotonga with our two sons who are young adults. We found this was a perfect location. Do not stay here if you don’t love roosters and dogs! We stayed at Cooks Oasis for our first trip to Rarotonga with our two sons who are young adults. We found this was a perfect location. Do not stay here if you don’t love roosters and dogs! Fortunately, we love both and these creatures are all over the island. Our resident dog Mawi and his neighbours were constant ambassadors and guides to and from the beach. They were a highlight of our trip. The villa itself was simple and charming. Admittedly we did not stay much indoors. We found the location to be a great spot and convenient to all areas of the island. You are guaranteed to miss the turn off once or twice, so keep your eyes open especially at night. Our mornings were spent fuelling up at the bakery on the corner and our days that were near the resort were spent at the beach, either walking to Black Rock, kayaking in the lagoon, snorkelling in the lagoon, or walking along the reef at low tide. It was spectacular. We were fortunate to go during whale season and saw a surprising amount of activity, including breaching metres from the reef. It was really quite amazing. Marianne and Wise were excellent hosts. They provided a lot of guidance but were also kind enough to give us space and privacy. A significant bonus is the property is right next door to the Sunset Resort where the Anchorage Restaurant is. My wife and one of my boys are vegetarian. Not only were there great options for them at the restaurant, but all the food had a welcome level of sophistication and tastiness. We will stay here again on our next trip! Joe M.
