I made an unplanned visit to Riobamba during Carnival Weekend and stayed at this very charming hotel. The hotel is part of Riobamba's Cultural heritage so you would be able to stay at a part of history of this wonderful town. The mansion is centrally located so you are able to walk around to get to the tourist areas pretty easy. It is an old mansion and it also has an area that is more modern. I stayed on the patrimonial side. The room was cleaned and comfortable; not big but it was ok. It had all the necessaries elements. The staff was wonderful and willing to help out and always with a smile. Gerardo, the manager, personally communicated with me and made sure that I was well taken care of. He even personally served me breakfast one of the mornings that I got up late. He still offered me the breakfast although it was well past the time. The only area where I do see the need of improvement is the Spa service. I wanted to schedule a massage and they had a bit of an issue finding someone to come the day I wanted the service. They finally did find someone and although she was good and detailed, I found some things were lacking. I had to tell her to dim the light as she had the room bright and I would have liked some nice relaxing music in the background to go along with the ambiance. I also was not able to use the amenities for long. I had just gotten there for about 10minutes and got called for the massage. I went back after massage and it was all closed down already. There was also no one at the spa front desk so I had to communicate with the hotel reception by WhatsApp when I needed something. I gave my feedback to Gerardo and he welcomed it, apologized and said he would look into that. Overall, I really liked this charming hotel and received great service from the staff. I would definitely stayed here again if I visit Riobamba. I hope the spa is working better then because it will make it perfect! :-)

“Lovely hotel in central Riobamba”

We stayed in this lovely hotel 3 times as we passed through Riobamba. We had a lovely room (#20) with a small balcony on the first two occasions. We stayed in this lovely hotel 3 times as we passed through Riobamba. We had a lovely room (#20) with a small balcony on the first two occasions. The third time, we had a beautiful room, # 21: very spacious, light and airy, with a large bathroom and walk-in shower and a separate toilet. Get it if you can. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room rate was better when we booked direct, rather than through one of the platforms. They do need to improve their breakfast offering: tepid coffee or lukewarm water for tea; a small fruit salad with a thimble-full of cereal and a similar amount of yoghurt; and uninspiring bread.

A lovely colonial building with a charming patio. The rooms are a bit small but have a nice style. Tea and coffee (only on the second day) available in the lounge area. There is a jacuzzi (or I should say a bathtub) available but at a fairly high fee. We were offered a deal: 15$ per person per hour instead of 25$. Were trying o enforce their taxi to go to Chimborazo for 40$ when a taxi there only costs 7$ one way. Were very fast checking us in, so fast they never asked for our passports and never asked us to pay, even at check-out - on that day they were too busy sorting out their computers. Then it was a nightmare to transfer the money. Breakfast was the usual and was only ok. Quantities were small. Had to ask a member of staff to get water. Staff speak basic English - they seem to speak English only as information is not always understood.
