We travel to Guayaquil often. Since its opening, The Marriott Courtyard of Guayaquil has always smacked of a modern, classy hotel with an ambience that exceeds most Courtyards in the United States. But lately, it's outdone itself! This hotel is generous with Elite Bonvoy members-- and not only with upgrades whenever they're available. They also provide an assortment of baked goodies as welcome gift among other amenities. What's more impressive, is they change this gift with the seasons, or to coincide with special occasions such as the 4th of July, or holidays specific to Ecuador. This kind of personalized attention is rare in any hotel... and to experience it so consistently is like a beam of sunshine amid post-covid cutbacks. The buffet they offer is also delicious and the bar/restaurant offers excellent drinks and dishes that are typical to region. This hotel NEVER disappoints!

“Close to airport, updated rooms, great breakfast buffet”

Stayed twice here on our way to/back from the Galapagos. Stayed twice here on our way to/back from the Galapagos. Very updated hotel and rooms, had jr suite which was spacious for our family of 4, super close to the airport, and great location and walking distance to shopping mall (incl food court) supermarket and amazing bakery across the street, many restaurant options. Service was fantastic and Kevin the General Mgr went out of his way to ensure we had a great stay. Highly recommend!

“Nice hotel, nice breakfast, annoying key policies”

My main issue was their incompetence over keys. We were 4 people and 2 rooms. They gave us 2 keys total at check in, and we were on different floors. The keys didn’t work to go on elevator for any floor but your own. And every time we got a new key they seemed to deactivate other keys. And all… lisää

My main issue was their incompetence over keys. We were 4 people and 2 rooms. They gave us 2 keys total at check in, and we were on different floors. The keys didn’t work to go on elevator for any floor but your own. And every time we got a new key they seemed to deactivate other keys. And all the keys looked the same. It was a huge hassle constantly going to the front desk for a new key or reprogramming. Never had this problem in any other hotel ever.

“Acceptable but frustrating”

Most things were fine, lobby, service room size etc. However things were just a little below what we'd expect for a hotel brand of this quality. The check in was slow, baggage collection was slow - we arrived early and had an afternoon in the city and wanted to drop our bags and go... but the going… lisää

Most things were fine, lobby, service room size etc. However things were just a little below what we'd expect for a hotel brand of this quality. The check in was slow, baggage collection was slow - we arrived early and had an afternoon in the city and wanted to drop our bags and go... but the going was slower than ideal. The duvet cover was badly torn in multiple places, threadbare doesn't come close. I took photographs and showed reception to endure that they took action and binned the cover. They said "thanks" as if this was an everyday occurance. I expected something more. The breakfast was fine. It is a buffet but they make your coffee - which wasn't the most forthcoming, required a nudge or two. Location is very close to the airport and not far from the Malecon / city centre but you'll still probably want a taxi - 10-20 min as the streets are not known for being that safe especially in the dark after dinner. (uber works here). There is a pool - and it is tiny, ok for a splash with my son or a soothing dip, but don't turn up for olympic training.
