This hotel was very clean and comfortable with secure underground parking, although the spaces are very tight. Unfortunately the air conditioning in our room didn't seem to work, but we didn't report it as we were only staying one night so it could have been us not working it properly. Because of this the room was very warm so we opened a window. This was okay but made it very noisy as there is a busy road outside. We were told the restaurant opened at 8.30, but when we went for an evening meal, the restaurant was not open at all and we ate in the adjoining café. The food was okay. The hotel is very convenient for the ferry port, which is about 2 minutes drive away. Would probably stay here again, the staff were very helpful.

“A lucky find”

After a long ride to Gijon at the end of our motorbike tour of France and Spain we needed to find somewhere to sleep before catching the ferry to poole so we found the port and after speaking to a local in the petrol station who was very helpful he pointed us in the direction of this hotel, the staff had some English and were very helpful with booking in 45 euros gets free wifi, underground secure parking and a nice room with bath for 2 people there is an attached restaurant if you want to eat however it is nicely located to view the city centre shops and bars we arrived after a very long day so just walked to the local Mercadona and bought some snacks this hotel is only 2/3 minutes from the port so was ideal for us and very comfortable and quiet

“Good budget hotel for short stays”

I spent two nights in the Hotel 44, Gijón this weekend. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The hotel staff were helpful and the hotel has been recently refurbished, so the room was comfortable. The room was on the small side and might have been uncomfortable for two people for a long period of time but for a business traveller or a weekend break it was a perfect budget choice. The bathroom only had a shower rather than a bath/shower combination, but I prefer a standard shower anyway. The hotel is located a fair distance from the centre of town (25-30 mins walk), although frequent local buses allow easy access to the city centre. I chose to take a taxi which cost just €5. The hotel has a cafe-bar attached to it which is open daily except from midnight until 5.30am, so it's easy to find something to drink or some breakfast. Finally, I thought it was excellent value for money at the price I paid (€37/night). I think it would be difficult to find better in Gijón. Two things to note: Firstly, the parking spaces in the hotel garage are very tight indeed if you have a large or family-sized car. I was in a large rental car and it was a bit of a squeeze. Thankfully, one of the hotel staff appeared unrequested in the garage and assisted myself and another couple with our parking. I appreciated the service. Secondly, as I was a single occupant staying for just two nights, I didn't feel the need to have the room cleaned during my stay. I left the 'Do Not Disturb' sign hanging on the door when I went out for the day. Unfortunately, the cleaner made up the room anyway. I would have preferred that the DND request had been observed. However, my experience was positive in this hotel and it merits a 4 star review.

“Good although a bit away from the center”

Has several streets where you can park for free but it is not easy to find place. The hotel is a bit away the center and have to walk 25-30 minutes' walk to the edge of the bay. We were in a room on the top floor where the roof was sloped but the room was big and with hot tub. We really liked the… lisää

Has several streets where you can park for free but it is not easy to find place. The hotel is a bit away the center and have to walk 25-30 minutes' walk to the edge of the bay. We were in a room on the top floor where the roof was sloped but the room was big and with hot tub. We really liked the room even through it was a little warmer but the air conditioning worked and there were no problems. The rooms have little insulation and we awoke with the sounds of the street. The staff was friendly and provided all the necessary tourist information.
