I went through Arenas de Cabrales on the way to Covadonga from Potes and figured there seemed to be plenty of hotels, and restaurants. I'd come back for a couple of days. Rock up at a hotel and get a room straight away Well no. Because nowhere in Arenas de Cabrales has any staff it transpires. It was obvious that we were out of season and clearly hotels around here are not used to have people just show up. In the end I booked this hotel on the internet. Fine, plugged it into Sat Nav and drove the car up there. There's good parking but nobody at the hotel either. You have to call them. they give you the code for a locker and assign you the key. They also give you the wifi code over the phone so good luck understanding that if you do not speak Spanish I think it is possible that the wifi didn't work anyway because I was doing work emails in a café Anyway, I let myself into the hotel and boom. I was accommodated. No frills, basic, no people either really. I spent two nights there. Continuing the theme of this review. If you do come to Arenas de Cabrales in February then do not be surprised if nothing at all is open. The locals all seemed to congregate in the bakery, that was the only place open every day whilst I was there, with few alternatives available.

“Great views and good value, poor breakfast”

I stayed here with a friend for 2 nights and the twin room we shared was great with good view of the hills. there was a house being built next door though which was loud in the morning, and I think we may have been the only people in the hotel as it was very quiet. I stayed here with a friend for 2 nights and the twin room we shared was great with good view of the hills. there was a house being built next door though which was loud in the morning, and I think we may have been the only people in the hotel as it was very quiet. The breakfast was coffee and a pastry, not enough to set you up for a day on the hills. It only cost 37 euros each though.
