Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is a beautiful and peaceful safari destination only a few hours from Cape Town. The scenery is stunning, with wide open landscapes and mountains all around. The family lodge was very comfortable and beautifully decorated, with great views and a real sense of privacy. There is a pool, gym, spa for massages, and lots of different areas to relax in the sun or by the fire. The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome from the start. Game drives are the highlight. There are two per day - make sure you arrive on time for your first evening safari so you can make the most of it. Our guide was very knowledgeable and you get to see a variety of wildlife in their natural environment. The park is HUGE but they are great at tracking the animals. There isn't as much concentration of wildlife a some other safaris but we loved that it never felt crowded or rushed. Food is excellent, and meals are enjoyed in beautiful settings, including outdoors under the stars. It can get cold on early morning drives, and travel between sightings can be bumpy, but it’s all part of the experience. They provided blankets and hot water bottles so we felt very comfortable. Overall, a fantastic, quiet, and authentic safari; perfect for a luxury wildlife getaway.

Our stay at Sanbona was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, every aspect of the experience felt incredibly personalized. The lodge itself is absolutely stunning, and the tents are beautiful: luxurious, comfortable, and perfectly immersed in the landscape. What truly set Sanbona apart was the exceptional hospitality. Every member of the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was unforgettable. No need went unmet, and their attention to detail was remarkable. One example that perfectly captures their thoughtfulness was when they kindly prepared repeat servings of our favorite dishes before we departed, including the blueberry oatmeal, which is an absolute must! The safari experience itself far exceeded our expectations. Seeing cheetahs, rhinos, elephants, lions, giraffes, jackals, etc. thriving in their natural habitat was nothing short of breathtaking. Every game drive felt special, and it was clear how much care and expertise goes into creating such meaningful wildlife encounters, especially if you are lucky enough to have Marco as a guide. All that Sanbona does for its guests and for wildlife conservation deserves to be celebrated. We left with memories that will stay with us forever and cannot recommend this experience highly enough.

Our stay at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve was an absolutely unforgettable experience from start to finish. We had an incredible guide for our safari tours who made every game drive exciting and highly informative, and the food throughout our stay was outstanding. Staying at the Dwyka Tented Camp was pure luxury. The accommodations were beautifully appointed, blending perfectly into the stunning landscape while providing every comfort imaginable. A truly special highlight was celebrating my 50th birthday at the lodge. The staff went above and beyond to make it a memorable occasion, baking a delicious birthday cake for me and gathering around our table in the restaurant to sing. It was a unique, deeply touching, and beautiful experience. We can highly recommend Sanbona from the bottom of our hearts to anyone looking for a magical safari getaway.

“Wonderful Stay at Sanbona !!”

We had the opportunity to spend two nights at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve. Our stay was incredible, our room was very spacious and comfortable, the game drives were amazing and the food and service top notch !! Highly recommended.
