“Our favorite hotel in South Africa”

We spent 4 nights in Protea Cape Castle, close to the Waterfront. We had a lovely spacious room on the 9th floor with a fantastisk view. The staff is very friendly and helpful, so it is always a pleasure to come back. Lis and Jan Beyer, Denmark We still mean this. - july 20, 2021

“Served us well”

We stayed for two weeks while one of us went to the Newlands Test match for five days and the other visited friends or shopped. We stayed for two weeks while one of us went to the Newlands Test match for five days and the other visited friends or shopped. The room we had was clean and comfortable and had a view of Table Mountain. There was free wi fi and a mini kitchen. Once we learned about the lift in the car park it saved climbing all those steps to get to reception area. It was exactly what we needed and we booked it through a web site so we had already compared prices. It is convenient for Waterfront - about ten/fifteen minutes walk away. Check in was a bit slow (though staff always pleasant) and we thought the breakfast was outrageously expensive at 190rand compared to elsewhere in the area and in Cape Town. They don't really seem to want to do food. There was a small swimming pool but we did not use it. If we return we would look at it again.

“Great view of table mountain, Good location, poor rooms ”

It is a super windy weekend in Capetown and the windows in my room are making such howling sounds (due to poor fitting) that it is impossible to sleep. I can feel the wind coming inside through the fissures, thankfully it is not winters. Overall, the place needs some modernization. Rooms are dull a… lisää

It is a super windy weekend in Capetown and the windows in my room are making such howling sounds (due to poor fitting) that it is impossible to sleep. I can feel the wind coming inside through the fissures, thankfully it is not winters. Overall, the place needs some modernization. Rooms are dull and very basic, although clean. It really is a 2 star experience, don't expect nice restaurant, elaborate breakfast, good services. Don't pay more than $50 per night.

“Too expensive for what it is”

We spent one night in this hotel, we chose it mainly because of its proximity to the V&A Waterfront (10 minutes walk) and because it was one of the few still available on New Year’s eve. We spent one night in this hotel, we chose it mainly because of its proximity to the V&A Waterfront (10 minutes walk) and because it was one of the few still available on New Year’s eve. The neighborhood is rather safe, the main attraction being the V&A Waterfront. The hotel staff is friendly, but the room price is too high for what the hotel offers. Our room was on the ground floor, rather spacious and clean, however we could not open the curtains because the windows overlooked the courtyard and everyone could look inside. The bathroom was quite basic with a very small sink and a walk in shower. The breakfast was decent, and we had to pay extra for it because in the room price it was only included for one person (even if the booking was for two persons...). There is a swimming pool which is however very small.
