A perfect place to explore the surrounding countryside and castles ( and there a lot) with the help of a cycle . Who would have thought Netherlands outside the big cities was a tourist destination …. There has been a hotel here since my partner's grandmother's time or longer (that is to say her grandmother stayed here too many years ago when she was young) .... but the present owner moved on from the Tollius restaurant in Amersfoort a few years back and stamps his and his wife's character on the place: Wonderful food based on the best natural ingredients, very eclectic decor influencing the food, wines to match. Great walks and bike rides right from the door (and it's prime horse riding country too, not sure if the hotel can help you if you want to indulge). Rooms are clean and cosy (beds very comfortable) but that's not really what you come here for. A generous selection of common rooms including a couple of open fireplaces makes it an ideal destination not only for families but also for small groups of friends looking for an active (or inactive) culinary getaway. Most people limit themselves to supper and breakfast but the lunch is just as good - and just as large ! - as the supper. The owner's one regret is that he does not get so many repeat customers as in a restaurant - well, more significantly, the repeat customers he does get aren't so repetitive ..... - but so be it. He has found a magnificent location to make up for that.

We stayed in De Lochemse Berg for a family weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday. We have known Peter and Caroline who run this lovely place for a long time, but we had not found an opportunity before to visit. The interior of the hotel has a lot of personal details. The rooms are very nice, but the most special aspect of the hotel is the common "living room" area, divided into multiple spaces, with a very warm, personal atmosphere. And immediately outside the hotel you are in the middle of the woods. Peter and Caroline have run several restaurants before and the quality of the cooking (and the variety of wines on offer) was one of the main attractions to us. There is only one fixed menu, but the quality of it is fantastic. We very much enjoyed the visit and hope to have the opportunity to come back in the not too distant future.

“Walking Group Reunion”

we stayed at this boutique hotel for a Dutch Walking Group reunion. we had the whole hotel [10 rooms] for the weekend. The rooms are very nice and roomy, the common areas are great, the food was really good including a five course dinner we all had. the hotel has grounds for hiking and is on a smal… lisää

The rooms are very nice and roomy, the common areas are great, the food was really good including a five course dinner we all had. the hotel has grounds for hiking and is on a small berg with many footpaths. It is located in rural eastern Netherlands.
