The view from our Bale was jaw dropping, breath taking and we could not stop absorbing the sights and sounds of the jungle. The other star of the show here is the set menu breakfast and dinner. The executive chef, Madi, has created something wonderful here. The food was exceptional, truly amazing cuisine. So many new treats! We visited the farm with Madi and the lovely Olive. Olive was so kind and informative about her local village and went the extra mile to answer our questions about local foods and traditions. The farmer and his family prepared some local food - the pumpkin cake being a notable delight!! The foraging and cooking experience was brilliant. The food, again, was outstanding. Diva behind the bar created a fresh cocktail for us with foraged ingredients. Easily the best cocktail we had during our stay. Good job, Diva! Sri was really welcoming on our first night and always so happy and attentive. Budi, Adi and everyone whose names we cannot remember (especially the young lady who looked after us during our final romantic meal down in the jungle - thank you!! We had a lovely evening!) were so lovely. Thank you to everyone that looked after us. Buahan is a magical place, with incredible food, mind blowing views and a back to nature, farm to table, fresh air unique experience. Not the cheapest but for many good and immediately understandable reasons!!! Bapak Nev & Ibu Holly (good to miss being address in this way hahahaha)

“Everyone should experience this place at least once.”

We were blown away! This place is so tranquil. The air is so clean and crisp. It is cooler in the hills and the heated pool was amazing, looking over the scene peaks, which would be covered in most and then appear throughout the day. It is cooler in the hills and the heated pool was amazing, looking over the scene peaks, which would be covered in most and then appear throughout the day. We were nervous about the open air concept, but no problem at all. Great hearing/cooling system above bed and we were comfortable. We did have a storm one night which blew everything around, so had to put storm blinds down at 2am!! We stayed in the Seven Peaks Bale (#12). We were told this was the best, and we believe it. Not only close to restaurant, but also best view. The food was very fancy and they catered well to my wife's gluten allergy. The main pool was stunning, but we did not actually swim in it. Had everything we needed in our bale. We did use the spa, which was amazing. Visited the on site waterfall and enjoyed walking around the local village in the mornings, although narrow road (obviously no sidewalks) and some unwelcomkng dogs. We loved our experience here, but left feeling three days was enough. We would recommend anyone to experience here. It is so different to anything we have experienced and just so peaceful. We felt we got value for our money.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Buahan, tucked away in the lush hills of Bali, and it was nothing short of magical. The resort itself is stunning—private bales set within the jungle. My villa was spacious, beautifully designed, and came with a private plunge pool that overlooked the hills. Waking up to birdsong and mist rolling over the greenery each morning was unforgettable. Dining at the resort was a highlight. The restaurant served fresh, locally inspired dishes with an emphasis on organic ingredients, and every meal felt like a celebration of Balinese flavors. Breakfast on the terrace, with the morning sun filtering through the trees, was a particularly memorable experience. We took two excursions: Lava Trails and Spiritual exploration of Bali. Both were well organized and enjoyable. Recommended very highly!

Buahan is, without exaggeration, the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in — and in so many ways it completely redefines what a hotel can be. There are no walls, no doors, and no barriers between you and nature, yet you somehow feel more comfortable, safe, and deeply cared for than anywhere else. The location is a bit remote, but it is absolutely worth the journey. Once you arrive, the setting feels untouched and sacred, surrounded by jungle and mountains that are genuinely breathtaking. From check-in — where you’re invited to ring a wooden bell (I don’t know the Balinese name, but the ritual alone sets the tone) — everything feels intentional and special. The service is exceptional on every level: warm, intuitive, and incredibly attentive. The rooms (or bales) were always impeccably clean. Every time we left for breakfast or dinner, housekeeping would quietly refresh the space, so we returned each time to a perfectly tidy, serene room — a detail that made a huge difference. The food and cocktails are out of this world. Every day we enjoyed set menus for both breakfast and dinner, and they never disappointed. I loved their philosophy of 70% fruits and vegetables and 30% animal protein — nourishing, creative, and beautifully balanced. Dietary preferences and restrictions are handled effortlessly and with care. Our host, Adi, was phenomenal — incredibly accommodating, friendly, attentive… and yes, very handsome (cheeky but true). He genuinely elevated our stay and made everything feel effortless. We also had a spa day with a couples massage, and the two therapists were fantastic. They made us feel comfortable, safe, and completely relaxed — the kind of massage where time simply disappears. Staying in the bale was magical. We had a few jungle visitors — ground birds and a gecko — which only made the experience more immersive. The bale’s infinity pool was stunning, and even though the water was cold, we used it every single day. It’s worth noting that the noise levels can be a bit loud at times — but it’s not human noise, it’s nature in its purest form. Birds, insects, the jungle breathing around you. If anything, it reinforces how unique and alive this place truly is. Buahan isn’t just a hotel — it’s an experience, a philosophy, and a memory that stays with you long after you leave. Truly unforgettable.
