We had a wonderful stay at this Resort. The property itself is beautiful, the food was delicious and the chef did an amazing job throughout our stay. What made the experience even more special was the warm and caring atmosphere created by staff - the truly make you feel comfortable and at Home. A special thank Ridho Julang Restaurant Manger for his wine recommendation for us during our meals. The service was attentive and professional. His warm hospitality truly elevated the entire experience

Our stay at Cap Karoso in Sumba was absolutely incredible and one of the best travel experiences we have ever had. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed, with the General Manager personally introducing himself and making us feel at home straight away. The staff were amazing throughout our stay: warm, attentive, professional, and always willing to go above and beyond. The food was exceptional, the service was seamless, and the rooms were beautifully designed, comfortable, and relaxing. A major highlight was the boat trip, which included fishing and an immersive cultural experience visiting local villages. It was a truly memorable way to connect with the island, its people, and its traditions. Overall, this was one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever had. Cap Karoso delivered the perfect balance of luxury, culture, hospitality, and natural beauty. We would highly recommend it and would love to return.

“Woken up by a rat in our bed….”

Let me start with the positives. The setting is beautiful, the staff is genuinely warm and friendly, and the food was excellent. That said, a few aspects of our stay were less impressive. Let me start with the positives. The setting is beautiful, the staff is genuinely warm and friendly, and the food was excellent. That said, a few aspects of our stay were less impressive. Communication wasn't always smooth, and maintenance in some areas could have been better. Our villa's master bedroom had an open-air en-suite bathroom. While it looks beautiful, it also makes it difficult to keep mosquitoes out. The large gaps around the doors between the bathroom and bedroom didn't help either. Without a mosquito net over the bed, that didn't feel ideal on an island where malaria and dengue are present. On our last night, we had an unpleasant surprise when my wife was woken up by a rat running across her head...... It wasn't a particularly large rat, and I understand that something like this can occasionally happen in a tropical environment. Of course, having a rat in the bedroom is a nasty experience, but it was the way the situation was handled that bothered us. After a long wait, the receptionist came to help himself because he couldn't reach anyone else. While we were waiting, we saw the rat running across the bedroom several times. Together we spent about ten minutes chasing it before finally driving it outside through an open window. I appreciated his effort, but it didn't feel like a very professional or elegant solution. While chasing the rat, I also noticed that areas out of sight, such as underneath the bed and behind the curtains, were far from clean. The next morning, the duty manager sincerely apologized, which I appreciated. He then offered a discount of IDR 5 million on a bill of around IDR 155 million. I appreciated the apology, but I wasn't particularly impressed with the compensation given the circumstances. Cap Karoso gets many things right, but luxury is very much about how unexpected problems are dealt with.
