We recently stayed at Aranya Nivas for a short two-day getaway, booking directly with the property and receiving a discounted fare. Our purpose was relaxation, and the stay truly delivered on that front. We stayed on two different days in two different rooms—both offering beautiful jungle views. The first room was slightly smaller, and the second one was more spacious, but both were impeccably maintained, clean, and a visual delight. From the comfort of our bed, we were able to watch wildlife right outside the window. We were thrilled to spot a Malabar giant squirrel, Nilgiri langurs, and several small birds from our room itself—an unforgettable experience. The Periyar Boating Point is easily accessible from the resort. Though we didn’t go boating this time (as we had already enjoyed it two years ago during our stay at Lake Palace, situated inside the sanctuary), we spent hours relaxing in the boat landing’s waiting area. During this peaceful time, we saw sambar deer, bison, and wild boar. Nature’s orchestra was in full swing, especially while sitting on the benches outside Aranya Nivas. The blend of birdsong and jungle sounds made the experience magical. Guests are allowed to stroll around the resort and the nearby lake area up to 5:30 p.m., whether inside or just outside the precincts of the Periyar Tiger Reserve. During one such stroll, we were lucky to spot a monitor lizard. To our delight, we even saw a porcupine inside the premises at night, adding to the sense of being truly close to nature. The swimming pool is well-kept and adds to the charm of the property. As for food, upma at breakfast was quite tasty. However, the dinner—occasionally served as a buffet—was somewhat expensive and could benefit from better taste. That said, the meals were homely, which meant no worries about digestion. In summary, Aranya Nivas is a perfect choice for nature lovers seeking a peaceful and immersive wildlife experience. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay and would definitely choose this property again.
