We have just returned from a memorable stay at The Leela Kovalam, and it was just a perfect place to relax and be spoilt at the end of an 8 day tour of Kerala. We chose the Winter Getaway Package that came with a Royal Club room and included all meals, afternoon high tea, TRV airport transfers and a 30 minute spa treatment. These rooms are in a separate wing from the main part of the hotel, making it feel more exclusive and defintely much quieter. We had a private concierge, Sheetal, who was always available for us both in person and at WhatsApp, and proactively made arrangements to make my friend's 50th birthday celebration that much special. The rooms were very well appointed, with a sea view and balcony and it was so therapeutic lying in bed listening to the sound of the waves splashing on the rocks below our room. We were able to enjoy both breakfast and high tea at The Club, which forms part of the Club wing, with the lunch and dinner buffets that were included in our package being available in the main Terrace restaurant. The quality of food in each outlet was exceptional. Above all, what made our stay even more enjoyable was the hospitality of every single member of the team that we encountered, nothing was ever too much trouble. The perfect end to a beautiful and memorable holiday in a very special part of India.

We stayed in the ‘club’ hotel after having complained about the disturbance we experienced when staying in the main hotel facing the beach. The call to prayer at 5:30 was loud and woke us up. We stayed in the ‘club’ hotel after having complained about the disturbance we experienced when staying in the main hotel facing the beach. The call to prayer at 5:30 was loud and woke us up. The hotel immediately upgraded us and the whole experience from start to finish was exceptional. The staff are so attentive, kind and considerate. They couldn’t do enough for us. The room was so sumptuous and with spectacular views of the crashing waves below the cliffs. Breakfasts and afternoon tea were incredible! These were served in the club hotel so nice and peaceful. There’s also a beautiful infinity pool. All our needs were met ; in fact they exceeded our expectations. A perfect stay thank you.

“Overall I would recommend but a few things could be improved”

We stayed for seven nights in a Superior Sea View room. The bedroom was large and clean with a huge comfortable bed, the bathroom was also of a good size and the shower was hot and had good pressure. We stayed for seven nights in a Superior Sea View room. The bedroom was large and clean with a huge comfortable bed, the bathroom was also of a good size and the shower was hot and had good pressure. Towels were changed daily and they were large, clean and really fluffy. There is a private beach but it is quite steep to walk but no need to wear yourself out as Golf carts are available to go up and down just ask security and if there isn’t one there they will radio for one. There are 10 sun beds which are comfortable and towels are provided it doesn’t seem a lot of beds but we always got one as they were never busy, however the public beach further along did get busy. The pool looks clean but we didn’t go in it as the sun beds are too close together so no privacy. Breakfast was the same most days there was plenty to choose from and it was always fresh and the egg station cooked the usual omelette’s etc. The Tides restaurant which is on the beach has a good choice of food and always nice and fresh, we dined here for lunch and dinner. The main restaurant is mainly buffet but offers an A’L’Carte we chose to pick from the menu as we are not keen on buffet. We were always greeted enthusiastically on arrival but found the service very slow also we felt like we were being watched all the time it was a bit unnerving. We went into The Jazz bar a couple of times but were the only ones in there so no atmosphere to speak of but a very nice bar with good service. The Sky-bar was another bar with no atmosphere, yet again we were the only one’s in there, the hotel isn’t utilising this beautiful area it could be so much better if they provided shade and made it more welcoming. Another disappointment was the entertainment, there was a singer in the Sky-bar but we missed him him both times because we didn’t see any information about him it was the same with the dancers and fire eaters we had no idea about their performance and was sorry to miss it, We looked in reception and couldn’t see information about these acts, the hotel should do more to promote this entertainment as there is nothing else to do in the evenings. Sleep quality wasn’t good due to very noisy guests shouting when coming back late , I would recommend a room at the end of the corridor where no has to pass as we were near the lifts. However I would recommend this hotel
