“A Mixed Experience”

Stayed here for 2 days. The Good – The property was beautiful, spacious and well-maintained. Rooms were of the standard expected of a 5-star hotel, except for the lack of soundproofing. Stayed here for 2 days. The Good – The property was beautiful, spacious and well-maintained. Rooms were of the standard expected of a 5-star hotel, except for the lack of soundproofing. Housekeeping was excellent. Really liked the dinner and breakfast buffets on both days. The staff in the dining area were very good. The Bad – (why I’ve reduced two stars) Room soundproofing – I was given a room with doors connecting to two other rooms, one on each side. On the 2nd day, a very loud person checked into one of the rooms. He was arguing angrily with someone on the phone, we could hear him clearly from our room, but as we had to go out for sight-seeing we ignored it, thinking he would probably settle down by the time we returned. All was quiet when we came back, but at around 2 a.m., I was suddenly awoken by loud, thumping music coming from the room. I had to call the duty-manager twice, who spoke to the guest, and the music was lowered after my second call. Now, guests can listen to whatever music they want to, at whatever time, but the hotel must ensure that if you are giving rooms with connecting doors to strangers, the doors must be soundproofed, especially given the star-rating of the hotel. – 1 star for this. Experience during check-in and checkout – Check-in – The reception team is not well-organized and some of them need more training, even in basic hospitality etiquette. I had booked a room with twin beds, but our room was set-up with a double bed. When I informed the reception, the person said he would send someone to rearrange it, as even the double bed is basically two single beds joined together, and only the bedding would need to be changed. Now, that’s fine, but this should have been done BEFORE we were given the room, not after. It means the person at the reception did not even check the room-type while assigning the room. Not expected of a Taj property. Check-out – I had booked directly with Taj, as I get membership benefits, and prepaid the entire amount. However, during checkout, the guy at the reception (not the same person who handled our check-in) handed me a bill showing the entire amount as unpaid. When I told him I had already paid, he replied, “No, you have not paid.” When I showed him the invoice from Taj on my phone, with clearly showed that the amount had been paid, with a payment confirmation ID, he took a screenshot and showed it to someone, who then showed it to someone else, who then went inside to check their systems. He came out, after 10 mins, saying that everything was fine and the amount had indeed been paid. There was no apology from anyone. All this while our cab had already arrived and was waiting. We wasted 15 mins during checkout, for no fault of ours. -1 star for the checkout experience. It’s a pity, because this could easily have been a 5-star experience.

“its good but needs lot of tweaks”

its good but sometimes their waiters are fast but sometimes they forget the order, and their buffet quality needs improvement, and its not 5-star, its 4-star plus. Their ala carte is great. Location is great.
