“Beautiful heritage property”

Our family of 5 stayed in two heritage rooms for 3 days ..,the drive from Bagdogra is long and being the end of Dec, roads were chaotic and took couple of hours longer than usual ..,we arrived late evening at the beautiful Elgin property, had a smooth check in , adjoining spacious heritage rooms and helpful staff who brought our bags up the flight of stairs .. rooms are on the first floor , point for people with mobility issues. Great service and food at the restaurant and in room dining. Few points to mention.. our room faced the back onto the other block of the building so unfortunately no view .. the extra bed for my daughter had a rock hard mattress but was immediately sorted by adding a softer bedding .. the kitchen is in this block so one of the nights when the restaurant was busy a strong smell of food pervaded the room .. did not notice it much the other two nights.. overall a comfortable stay in a quaint interesting heritage property..modern resorts are a plenty but great to experience something different.

The building is exquisite and crammed full of reminders of the buildings illustrious past as the guesthouse of the last King of Sikkim. We were very impressed with our room, which was luxurious. The staff are very friendly and attentive and receptive to guest suggestions (eg around dishes to serve at mealtimes). The food was excellent and, in particular and as one might expect, the tea was outstanding. Well worth a visit if you are coming to Gangtok.

“Gantok visit during Sikkim trip”

A Heritage property with nice gardens and attentive service ( sometimes felt like over attentive) in the restaurant. Room we had I expected views of Gantok and the mountains however even after getting the room changed the views were poor. Had a stadium view with noisy car park below us. Good qualit… lisää

A Heritage property with nice gardens and attentive service ( sometimes felt like over attentive) in the restaurant. Room we had I expected views of Gantok and the mountains however even after getting the room changed the views were poor. Had a stadium view with noisy car park below us. Good quality was variable our 3 night stay. Found it off putting having to go to our room through the dinning room, and carpets and decor very old and dated in that section. The lounge was good and very pleasant to relax in. Overall the property did not live up to our expectations from the reviews seen by us.
