I recently visited the Redcastle Hotel for Valentine's Day Afternoon Tea, with my wife and two small daughters. We had a table right at the window, overlooking the bay. The service was prompt and the food was delicious. The children got their own child- friendly treat boxes - although they helped with the adults' assortment as well! Overall, a very pleasant experience, which I would recommend - and would happily return to in the future.

“Amazing views, good food, disappointing spa.”

We recently stayed here for the first time, we were impressed by the comfort of the bed and how warm the hotel was - I had brought a jacket for evening meals and didn't need it, and it had been snowing on our way there. The room was clean and we liked that we could adjust the temp of the room, there were some parts of the room that could have done with touch ups but overall good and information provided was plentiful. The TV in the room was good quality and had several stations including internet access. There were plenty of staff in the hotel who were happy to help and you were never waiting for anything. Drinks and dinner were also served very quickly. We were very impressed with the quality of the food we had breakfast twice, food from the captains bar and also the edge restaurant all of which were warm and tasted great. We were also pleasantly surprised to find there was live music midweek, we thoroughly enjoyed the craic from the musicians and music played. The views from this hotel are amazing, every meal we had came with a view and even at night in the restaurant they have the outside lit so you can see the waves crashing below. The only major issues we had were with the spa, upon arrival there were no robes in our room but this was very quickly rectified which we were impressed with however we found the cleanliness of the pool area was not what we had expected there was rubbish under some of the seats along with missing tiles and damage to the walls. The sauna and steam room were good but small and there was not a separate Jacuzzi in the main pool so when sitting in Jacuzzi seats you had kids climbing all over you, throwing toys and at one stage even a life bouy, I appreciate this is more of a parenting problem than anything but it did ruin the experience. It was only when we were leaving on our last day my partner heard someone ask about outdoor hot tubs. Overall a good experience but could do with some work.

“Disappointed”

Room size was good but grubby and tired. Carpet had a number of stains and a smell of blocked drains in the bathroom. Worst shower I've ever had and I don't expect body wash/ shampoo in a 4* resort. Spa was nice but pool area was tired and needed work. Changing rooms were filthy and absolutely soak… lisää

Food was delicious and the staff in captains bar were lovely. Overall disappointed.

“nice hotel but poor food”

We visited the hotel for the first time, first impressions was the reception staff were all fantastic & friendly…room was lovely & cosy…my small issues were the spa…tiles missing around the pool areas inside the pool, anyone could get cut on these, several jets not working in the jet pool areas…may… lisää

We visited the hotel for the first time, first impressions was the reception staff were all fantastic & friendly…room was lovely & cosy…my small issues were the spa…tiles missing around the pool areas inside the pool, anyone could get cut on these, several jets not working in the jet pool areas…maybe less fixation on swimming caps & more on fixing these things…dining…sides were lovely…kids dessert was ice cream & ‘strawberries’ - there was half a strawberry? Roast chicken & chorizo Caesar - the roast chicken was a breaded small chicken breast…breakfast a slice of blue mould bread sat above the bread station for an hour and still wasn’t lifted - not really what I expected from a 4 star hotel - but all the staff were lovely & the room was but dining was very poor quality - breakfast hot food was lovely couldn’t fault it but dinner was poor
