The Lodge at Ashford Castle is a beautiful hotel set in the most amazing grounds with great views of the lake and Castle. I have stayed here every year since 2022 .. I have also stayed at the castle on a number of times and this hotel really can stand its ground. The rooms are lovely, and the staff are very friendly and great value for money ! You have access to the castle grounds and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from within the grounds and in the village (Cong). They also have a spa/pool area but I have never had time to use them yet !!

“Ashford for the non-Ultra riche”

Welll...being an idiot I did not realize I would not be staying in Ashford Castle Proper and was a bit disappointed. That disappointment soon faded when we checked in. Valet service was outstanding. The Porter took our luggage to the room, which was mid-century (30s-50s art deco) themed and plush. Rooms came with Robes, king size-bed with luxury linens, ROBES, coffee and hot cocoa, fresh milk (hint Cocoa + Bushmills = Happiness!) and access to the free standing Spa (Pool/Thermal Suite/Weight and exercise room, very plush) and an outstanding breakfast, by far the best of our trip. You have access to the grounds, including a morning walk through the woods with the Russian Wolf Hounds, lake cruise and whatever else, the Spa, which is 100 feet from the building, etc. And truly impeccable service. Truly treated like royalty! Here's a choice: The Lodge and 1200 euros in your pocket per night or staying at the Castle. Wasn't hard for us peasants!

We just had a fabulous stay at the Lodge at Ashford Castle . From the staff who were all amazing,helpful,friendly and so professional in all areas of the hotel to the fabulous food and service in the restaurant.With complementary coffee for going out walking around the stunning grounds ,was an added bonus.The rooms are spotlessly clean ,beautifully decorated and so comfortable . I was celebrating my birthday and it made it so special. This was our second time staying and we would definitely recommend the hotel and are planning our next stay.

“Nice All Rounder”

We drove over 200 miles to experience this short break and it was truly well worth the effort. Unfortunately the weather was pretty terrible but we were never dampened. We drove over 200 miles to experience this short break and it was truly well worth the effort. Unfortunately the weather was pretty terrible but we were never dampened. Parking is generous and well laid out. In particular, the welcome is effusive so a good start. Check in was informative and efficient whilst the porter was extremely attentive and friendly, showing us exactly what we needed to know. Our room appeared very recently redecorated and very well appointed with a good choice of heating facilities. A responsive radiator, air conditioning and bathroom underfloor heating with a walk-in rain shower. Good quality soaps and creams, robes etc. even a non-invasive small blue overhead light for those little night trips! Everything pristine clean. Without exception every single member of staff encountered was most helpful, interested and friendly. Breakfast and dinner with excellent choices and quality. There’s a complimentary 9-hole golf course and bikes for guests (to explore the estate), boat tours of Loch Corrib and a walking tour. An indoor pool, spa and gym, all within in grounds in a separate building together with a very nice tea room and another restaurant - very good for fresh caught fish. Of course there is the magnificent castle but if you are not staying there, no access unless you are buying afternoon tea or lunch. Very expensive of course. The estate and views, though are beautiful. The lodges are good value if you sign up and watch for deals, especially Rory’s Travel Club which will offer lots of holiday deals at home and abroad for only €12 a year membership. Overall a lovely experience and we will definitely return. Upon checking out it was a bit annoying to have a “discretionary” €10 per night added to the bill for staff gratuities and an unexplained €1 Charity donation. Very annoying as we are generous tippers and we recognised everyone who served us including porters. I declined these of course but I would not like to be discussing this issue with other guests waiting around, were I easily embarrassed. A surprising practice when everything else is so well organised. Feels a little like entrapment. Our companions paid upon arrival and were not presented with these. Next time I’ll pay up front!
