OK 3* hotel. Large triple room. Lumpy beds. Hot cooked buffet breakfast. No facilities for coeliac or diabetic guests. Low fat sweetened yogurts, fruit salad in sweetened syrup. Basic breads. Really enjoyed our stay at the Shamrock Lodge, All the staff were really friendly and helpfull, We had a beautiful Room. The Princess Grace Room, We eat in the dining room on our first night,Food was really good and service fantastic, We really enjoyed the music in the bar on Saturday night , it was more of a singalong than music Blaring at you, Bartenders were friendly and the service was great , Overall I would highly recommend the Shamrock Lodge,

“Great Location, Exceptional Service”

We came for a visit to Ireland in April and chose the Shamrock Lodge due to its central location. We were only a 1-hour to 2-hour drive for day trips to all the areas we were scheduled to visit, and within walking distance to the center of Athlone. The lodge restaurant was very good, with a good selection, and the staff was super pleasant. I definitely recommend having a meal or two at the lodge. Breakfast was good, but the same each day with sausage, hash browns, blood sausage, beans, eggs, cereal, etc.. Side note for anyone from the states, they do not provide washcloths (none of the hotels did), because people have their own loofas, so bring something with you that you can throw away at the end of your trip. Originally we booked a 2-bed/2-bath unit, and were very disappointed. First, the website said there is a TV in every room.. There is not. Every room had a door which automatically closed behind you, so it felt like you were going in and out of a maze. The 2nd bath must be intended for small children because the grown men and women could not fit with the shower door shut, and the we are not large people, plus it had a very small pedestal sink and no place to put toiletries. The larger bathroom had a tub and more room, however, it also had a shower curtain that stuck to you every time you moved or bumped it. The one room with a TV (which as about the size of a computer monitor) also had 2 chairs and a twin bed, so it definitely did not accommodate 4 people to watch TV. Our friends had a washer/dryer in their unit, we did not. Now, with that said, we could not have been any more pleased with the staff at the Shamrock. When we spoke to them about the issues in the family unit, they couldn't have been any more accommodating. Once two rooms opened up in the main lodge, they moved us immediately. The rooms in the main lodge were perfect.
