Quirky and interesting place. Check in is at 3, and you will wait until then. We stayed in one of the cabins, Baldur. Slept 5, which would feel crowded, but two was fine. Quirky and interesting place. Check in is at 3, and you will wait until then. We stayed in one of the cabins, Baldur. Slept 5, which would feel crowded, but two was fine. All wood interior, heated bathroom floor. Small fan available. Only two Icelandic channels on tv. One cooking show was fun, but that was it. Mostly governmental shows. Beds were comfortable enough. Small fridge. Small shower. Not sure if temperature controls worked, and we had to open windows to stay cool. Fun exterior of the hotel, with many photo opportunities. Good breakfast, with a coffee and a juice machine. Make your own waffles, many bread choices, oatmeal with many add-ins (like raisins and brown sugar), a few different fresh fruit choices, like oranges…there was a melon I didn’t recognize. It was very crunchy and out of season. A buffet bar that included whole boiled eggs, egg salad, fish, meats, cheeses, and toppings like peanut butter and Nutella you could put on anything. It probably would have made that odd melon taste better, but I didn’t try it. Oh well… next time

“Something Different....”

I wanted something different as I was only going to be in Iceland for 36 hours. This fit the bill, a different perspective, don't expect 5 start luxury, but you get a clean and historical place to lay your head. I wanted something different as I was only going to be in Iceland for 36 hours. This fit the bill, a different perspective, don't expect 5 start luxury, but you get a clean and historical place to lay your head. Small and quaint it shared the story of life back then and the simplicity of being a farmer or fisherman. No fridge inside the room. But Its equipped with a kettle The bathroom in the room I had was very very small. Toilet, shower and sink in one very small space, however it was inline with the authencity of the era, it was very clean There is a restaurant onsite following the same theme and it was delightful. It has an amazing fish tank above the bar. The furniture and decor matches the vibe. Staff is very helpful. Not my usual place to stay. But it was a great experience

“Want a Viking experience stay here”

We loved this hotel! Fantastic atmosphere and wood carvings and furniture took you back in time. Every part of the hotel was spotlessly clean. All the staff dressed in Viking attire which made it even more authentic. They were so friendly and couldn't help you more. The breakfast served everything… lisää

We loved this hotel! Fantastic atmosphere and wood carvings and furniture took you back in time. Every part of the hotel was spotlessly clean. All the staff dressed in Viking attire which made it even more authentic. They were so friendly and couldn't help you more. The breakfast served everything from cereal or continental breakfast or have a go at making your own waffles. There was usual fruit juice tea coffee etc. Self service but always plenty of food on offer. I can't praise the hotel highly enough and would definately highly recommend it. Thank you to everyone who made our stay a memorable one. Only slight negative is that it's quite a distance from Rekyavic.

“Dated and cheap”

The decor is fun, assuming you have a themed room. The other rooms are dated and cheap. The decor on the main building is interesting but the rest of the place looks like it hasn't been updated in years.
