“Very Nice Stay”

We really enjoyed our cabin. It was clean and comfortable. It was especially nice to have a couch to relax in at the end of the day. I would highly recommend a stay here.

This place was easy to find and located in a very neat little corner of Iceland. They are small little cabins with all the amenities that your need. A microwave to cook your own food. This place was easy to find and located in a very neat little corner of Iceland. They are small little cabins with all the amenities that your need. A microwave to cook your own food. Dishes available (Please wash when used) TV, good eating area and even a comfy couch to sit on. The bed is small but easily fits 2 and just in case it doesn't, one can sleep on the top bunk. The bathroom was efficient with hot water and places to put toiletries. Even with signs up saying not to drive on the grass, some people brought their cars right up to the door of their cabins. I guess that some people are just rude and can't help themselves. It was easy to get into the cabin, a key and lock box are outside. I didn't like the water here, so bring your own. Has a smell and taste. I'm sure it was safe to drink, but I was glad I brough a few liters of my own water.

“A Wonderful Stay in North Iceland!”

We decided to stay a night in the Hvammstangi cottages when on the northern leg of our Icelandic road trip and are OH SO GLAD we did! Hvammstangi is a short detour off of the ring road a couple of hours drive from Reykjavik, nothing strenuous and on nice paved roads. The cottages are located just a couple of minutes drive from the little town itself, looking out over the coast - an idyllic location! In the day of our arrival we received the code for the lockbox to get the key out on arrival along with our cabin number. There is a loop that you can drive around to get closer to your cabin to off load your luggage but DON’T drive on the grass! One thing we did note however is that as it had rained a fair bit on the morning of our arrival the walk to the cabin was quite squelchy underfoot - it would be good if there was a small gravelled path to each cabin from the driving loop to prevent your feet getting soaked and muddy, especially as that could then end up in the cabin with you. Once inside the cabins are awesome, small enough to feel cozy but large enough to house everything you need and enough space for you to move around easily. Equipped with a lounge / dining area, double bed with bunkbed, kitchen and bathroom, once you’re in there is no need to leave. The heating in them is also superb, we actually had to crack a window open at one point as it got a little too toasty! There is also a large flatscreen tv equipped with android and typical apps such as Netflix and YouTube so it’s easy to find something you may want as background noise or just enjoy the peaceful site. The kitchen is fully equipped, tea / coffee making facilities, pots, pans and cutlery etc. if you are planning to cook I’d be sure to make sure you’ve picked everything up you need prior to arriving in Hvammstangi as the shops close early and are limited. The sleep quality was stunning! As the cottage was a cozy size and all warm as well with that fresh mountain air we were asleep almost as soon as our heads touched the pillows! It is also very very quiet where the cabins are located which is great. The following morning on waking up we soon realised we were positioned alongside a field of sheep and ponies - something my partner was elated about! All very friendly and came over to say hello. All in all, the cabin was stunning and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. Everything we needed, immaculately clean and ever so cozy!

“Pit stop.”

Super easy check in and check out. Place was Clean, cozy & and perfect pit stop for us. The Heat worked great and had absolutely no problems. The Lockbox was a little stiff, but the weather was nasty so it may have something to do with that. Super convenient!
