We stayed at a hotel right next to Skógafoss, and you can drive directly into the Skógafoss parking lot, which makes access extremely convenient. We had two rooms with views of the mountains and the waterfall, which was truly special. The rooms were a little on the smaller side, but they were very clean and the beds were comfortable. A useful note: the cold water in the room is safe for drinking, while the hot water comes from natural hot springs (which may have a slight sulfur smell, as is common in Iceland). Breakfast had a smaller selection, but the taste and quality were good. I would also recommend trying the hotel restaurant at least once during your stay—the food was quite enjoyable. We were fortunate to catch the northern lights on both nights. On the first night, there was a strong, dancing aurora (around KP 6–7 / G3 storm) right outside the hotel in the parking area. On the second night (around KP 3), I woke up in the middle of the night and was still able to capture it on my phone despite some light pollution from the hotel. One small thing to note is that the main entrance doors close after 11 PM, so we had to use the side entrance when returning late at night.

Hotel Skogafoss by EJ Hotels is located just 5 minutes walking distance from the Skogafoss falls. The biggest selling point of the hotel for us was being able to walk to the falls. The hotel included 2 days of parking inside the park. The rooms have a numeric keycode lock outside the wing so it did feel more secure. In the bathroom we saw a note saying hot water is sourced from geothermal source and might have sulphur smell. It wasn’t too bad and I actually enjoyed the uniqueness of it. The breakfast buffet at Hotel Skogafoss was one of the better ones we had in Iceland when considering the menu items. Thumbs up: Excellent location inside the Skogafoss falls park with only 5 minutes walking distance to the falls. Hotel validates parking for 2 days inside the park More reviews to come... “Pricey”

Perfectly located right next to Skogafoss waterfall ! We felt it was a bit pricey for the dates we booked. Room was decent , small , breakfast was good, it would be good if the front desk staff can be a bit more friendly. There was a bit of a stink in the washroom , but later we realised it was… lisää

There was a bit of a stink in the washroom , but later we realised it was due to the natural hot water had some natural chemicals causing the smell

Our stay here was okay, mostly thanks to the great location right next to Skogafoss. It was great to be able to visit the waterfall first thing in the morning. That said, the room had a noticeable sewer smell, and the water pressure and temperature in the shower left a lot to be desired. While the room was clean, the overall experience could have been better.
