Atmospheric hotel located in an historic building overlooking Dartmouth harbour. The bedrooms are spacious and well equipped. Try and get one with a harbour view - it is well worth it. The hotel has a central location and is in easy reach of most of the town's shops and amenities. Ferries and tour boats depart from just a few metres away. The standard of the food is excellent, with a really good breakfast menu including a number of freshly cooked hot options. There is a very good pub food menu for the rest of the day too. Best of all though are the staff here. The hotel is owned by the Cornish brewer St Austell, which I guess makes it a chain hotel but it really does not feel like it. I think that without fail, everyone that we encountered was friendly and helpful and a real credit to the hotel. Without their assistance, I am not sure that we would have navigated Dartmouth's obscure long term parking policies ! We would definitely rebook when next in Dartmouth.

“Lovely experience”

What a lovely hotel, very friendly staff and great food. We stopped only for one night in one of their superior rooms, wow beautiful , love the decor, it's all been refurbished in 2025 and what a great job. Bed was very comfortable . Would definitely stop again.

“Disappointing on this visit”

Disappointing. Booked a table and naturally thought we'd be upstairs in the restaurant only to be told there was a wake on so we had to rough it with the dogs downstairs and in the most uncomfortable chairs ever. Disappointing. Booked a table and naturally thought we'd be upstairs in the restaurant only to be told there was a wake on so we had to rough it with the dogs downstairs and in the most uncomfortable chairs ever. Not ideal when I had a bad back. I suggested we should have been told . The atmosphere in both areas is completely different. I didn't want to have to share my evening being surround by dogs (not allowed upstairs). My experience previously when I visited were dogs constantly barking and so so many of them in the bar room. It's ridiculous these days how many dogs there are in eateries, clothes shops and cafes. Not all of us want to be surrounded by these hense why I thought a booking online would have secured an upstairs table which is a much better dining experience. . The food I have to say was as good as it is always is albeit portions sizes a tad on the small size and I'm a small eater.
