Me and my wife enjoyed a child free weekend here , the room was lovely , and the spa did not disappoint,out door pool ,sauna n steam room were amazing, lounging around the ambient indoor pool was just what we needed. We opted for a burger n a beer with sky sports in the bunker bar but the other restaurants all looked amazing for fine dining or bistro type foodies, we used the very new well equipped gym in the morning followed by an amazing breakfast, we did have a couple of issues that we raised on departure with the manager andy which were well received which is exactly what you’d want but these were minor things and not worth dewelling on as we will 100% be returning, I preferred this spa stay over Rudding park and it can only get better with all the new facilities under construction. Highly recommend and great value .

“2nd time”

We had visited a year ago. This time for my wifes birthday we booked the Wensleydale suite for £500 for a Saturday night. Mainly as it was the room with a private hot tub on the balcony. We had visited a year ago. This time for my wifes birthday we booked the Wensleydale suite for £500 for a Saturday night. Mainly as it was the room with a private hot tub on the balcony. Check in was fine. Squadron bar (like last time) had both poor and slow service. Servers more interested in showing each other insta posts rather than being attentive to waiting guests. Biggest disappointment was the hot tub. When we went back up to the room after a couple of drinks we planned to use the hot tub to watch the sunset after my wife had opened her presents. The hot tub water was luke warm. I messed about with controls but to no avail. I called reception who said they would send up maintenance. 15 mins later duty manager and a reception lady turned up. They couldnt work it out and were as clueless as I was. They drained a bit of cold water and topped it up with some hot water from a hose. Brought the temp up by a couple of degrees…. They said hopefully it should work now and would slowly warm up - I wasnt convinced and frankly, neither were they..! We returned after dinner about 22:30 with plans to jump in the hot tub - still tepid… Clearly the heating mechanism had broken. I get that these things happen. When I checked out I obviously mentioned this at reception. Now we had spent £500 for the room (prepaid) plus another £400 (£100 prepaid) on dinner and drinks in the bar and Chartwells (superb as usual) so I was curious to see how much they felt we should be compensated given the main selling point for the room wasnt functional?? Now I’m lucky to be a wealthy man so tbh the amount they felt they should refund me wasn’t an issue from a monetary value aspect but I was curious to see what value they placed on the incident…….£30 And the worst thing was that the young manager making this decision clearly appeared that he felt he was getting one over on me - you weren’t, I just couldn’t be bothered debating the issue. This sums up the service at the place and we won’t be returning for a third time - sad really, because we do love Chartwells….

Really cold in rooms and restaurant and all areas. Needed thick jumpers. Our bedroom was extremely cold and had to ask for extra heaters. Really cold in rooms and restaurant and all areas. Needed thick jumpers. Our bedroom was extremely cold and had to ask for extra heaters. The service in the Elements restaurant was so slow and when we passed a comment to the waiter was told that they were doingt their best as there was only two staff! We were also woken up in The middle of the night by the loft hatch banging down (we thought a bomb had gone off) so we didnt get a good nights sleep I wouldnt recommend a stay in this hotel as it isnt cheap.
