Had an 2 night break with my husband for a special Birthday. Stayed in a Lakeland Club room which was very spacious and had our own Hot Tub on the Balcony which was very private. Hotel in a good central location. Our room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice. Thanks for the excellent service throughout our stay.

“A tad disappointed”

Firstly I would like to say the staff are amazing, sadly I didn’t get the receptionist name but having seen how she helped an elderly couple find there car and other problems they were having. Firstly I would like to say the staff are amazing, sadly I didn’t get the receptionist name but having seen how she helped an elderly couple find there car and other problems they were having. I never imagined I would be writing this review as we have been coming to this hotel for years, sometimes three times a year. Sadly I feel it is in decline we stayed in room 207, the toilet roll holder he’s been broke for at least three years, a little bit of paint wouldn’t go a miss. On the day of leaving I notice the bed sheet has a hole in. This is not what I would expect from this lovely hotel. Staff have left from the dining area which did seem strange after all these years but these things happen . Sorry to have to put this on here after many happy memories.

“Disappointing stay”

The Salutation has always been my “go to” hotel in the Lakes but my recent stay was not an enjoyable one. The Salutation has always been my “go to” hotel in the Lakes but my recent stay was not an enjoyable one. A faulty radiator in my room meant on two nights of my three night stay I was kept awake throughout the night by the noise from the radiator in my room ( which was located a few feet from the bed). On the first night I ventured downstairs to reception at 3.00am to report the problem and seek help ( the hotel advertises having 24 hour reception) but I could not find anyone on duty. I could not fault other aspects of my stay but for me, lack of sleep spoilt my visit. I was given a discount on my bill after I complained but I left feeling very disappointed (and tired).

“Not as good as previous visits”

Stayed here for the last 3 years, look forward to it as it as it has always been lovely, room staff and food. However this time I feel the standards have lowered, the bathroom was dirty, sink plug hole had black grime on the rim, the glass in the door was splattered and marked, inbetween the tiles… lisää

Stayed here for the last 3 years, look forward to it as it as it has always been lovely, room staff and food. However this time I feel the standards have lowered, the bathroom was dirty, sink plug hole had black grime on the rim, the glass in the door was splattered and marked, inbetween the tiles in the shower were stained orange and black mould marks on the silicone edge between the floor and wall tiles. There was also dirt between the bath and shower glass, Never had this before and was actually shocked as it has always been spotless. Even my partner mentioned it and he never complains. Breakfast has always been excellent but this time sausage was missing off my plate so I had to ask for it and go no apology when it did finally arrive after the waiter serving some other people! the egg had a crust on top like it had been sat for ageas. My partner got eggs Benedict, and on the second morning there was hardly any sauce on it, and there wasn’t much to it, we both felt what you got and the standard was below what we had come to expect and found on previous visits. Disappointed not to see Manwell, he was always lovely and went out of his way at breakfast but was not there. We have always loved coming here and look forward to it every year as our treat as it is expensive, we get a room with a hot tub so you expect it to be perfect, definitely not on this occasion and we are now reluctant to return. I wasn’t going to write this as I don’t usually do reviews but after waiting for a week for the usual mail asking how was our stay from the hotel I’ve still not received one ( even though we had numerous mails before and during our stay and after ringing up to ask about getting one they didn’t seem interested or ask why I was questioning this I felt I needed to get it off my chest.
