What a fab little hotel, right in the centre of Bakewell. Despite an initial mixup with our room,this was sorted promptly and with little fuss. Mega comfy beds with lots of pillows, a powerful and hot shower with bottles of a local shampoo and shower gel (that could also be purchased at reception) and great decor with some stylish touches in the room. Service was always with a smile; nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was ample and good value at £16pp with cereal, toast, yoghurt, fruit etc to choose from a buffet, plus a choice of cooked breakfast and juice and a hot drink. Parking is very limited however only £12 per day at the long stay car park in town.

Lovely hotel with warm and friendly staff, especially the younger guy with the beard who couldn’t have done any more to make us feel welcome. The whole ambience is relaxing and the restaurant is one of those stand- out rooms you’ll always remember. Our bedroom was extremely comfortable and quiet even though it was on the main road. The bathroom was very small but manageable and the toiletries were fabulous. Food was excellent and a good selection. The Bakewell Pudding was a must have.

“If you say you are dog friendly don’t sit those guests in areas where they get neglected …”

So so disappointing. We booked a superior double but definitely smaller than the photos but I wouldn’t have cared if the service had not been so bad. We had reserved a table for dinner for guests to join us …but I had to ask for the table to be wiped and the waiters face was a picture when he passe… lisää

We had reserved a table for dinner for guests to join us …but I had to ask for the table to be wiped and the waiters face was a picture when he passed me the soup of the day he had told me was tomato as he obviously looked at it fir the first time and realised it was brown …he went to ask and said I didn’t have to have it as it turned out to be mushroom . I was embarrassed overall by the poor service as I was trying my guests The next morning was worse - I had had to specify the time we wanted breakfast when we checked in …we arrived dead on time and directed to our table …then ignored for half an hour …the staff were busy including serving walk in customers and I had to ask for a hot drink and a juice ! And then ask again to get served … ate 50 minutes later than planned … I would not have minded if everyone had turned up at once but they had made everyone say when they wanted to eat so why ?

While overall it is a nice hotel, and the staff are very friendly. it could improve itself by: 1) offering more choices for food in both the bar and restaurant, 2) informing guests at booking - if they phone directly - that all ground floor… lisää

My Mum and I stayed here during the second week of Easter. While overall it is a nice hotel, and the staff are very friendly. it could improve itself by: 1) offering more choices for food in both the bar and restaurant, 2) informing guests at booking - if they phone directly - that all ground floor rooms are in the annex across the road, and 3) specifically for the room I was in enlarging the shower cubicle as it was barely big enough. Sort those two or three out, and a great place to base yourself for a break in the Peak District.
