From the moment we arrived to the point that we departed, The Kings Arms and Eighteen Restaurant team could not have been more welcoming, hospitable and charming. The hotel, refurbished in 2025, is ideally located a couple mins walk from the centre of town, beautiful riverside strolls, castle ruins & local restaurants. Chamane and Alex on the reception were incredibly helpful and added to the enjoyment of our visit. our room on the first floor was immaculately clean, comfortable and had the most efficient air con and filtering system that I had encountered.....also very quiet for such systems. The rooms were quiet and well insulated. This was very apparent on a Saturday evening during which the Eighteen bar below had created an ibiza club sound atmosphere. The music, chat and laughter coming from the busy bar on that occasion simply couldn't be heard at all in our room. Chantal and Claudia from Eighteen (a separate bar/restaurant business that seamlessly co-exists along side the Kings Arms Hotel) were always enormously hospitable, charming and efficient either in the evening at the bar or breakfast each morning. We opted for a room rate only which worked really well, as we were able to order breakfast a la carte each morning, thereby only paying for what we actually wanted, as opposed to a higher rate for an all inclusive breakfast. There are limited free parking spaces for hotel residents either directly opposite the entrance across the road, or a handful of spots reserved for guests in a private mews behind the hotel. On occasions we were able to take advantage of these spaces, but depending on when one returned to the hotel each day, all available spaces may have already been taken; meaning parking in a council car park further down the road for an overnight cost of around £2.60. The beautiful Highcliffe, Avon, Southbourne beaches are a short drive away. These locations couldn't have been more beautiful in the midst of the recent blue skies and glorious sunshine. “Brilliant hotel, great staff, lovely stay”

From the very first phone call, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I had phoned ahead of booking to double check the last room definitely had aircon (given the heatwave), and they were so helpful and reassuring. Great check-in, parking, bar staff. From the very first phone call, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I had phoned ahead of booking to double check the last room definitely had aircon (given the heatwave), and they were so helpful and reassuring. Great check-in, parking, bar staff. The room was spotless, the bath design the most comfortable I’ve ever had and a huge TV. A very high quality experience and definitely now our favourite New Forest hotel. We didn’t eat in the hotel this time but the restaurant looked lovely too so next time we will. Plus the location is also great.

A lovely place, well situated. Staff very friendly and professional. The food was very good. No air con in the restaurant and bar area made it uncomfortable to sit in. Would recommend the hotel.
