Good location Friendly staff and room was nice and warm when we entered on a bitterly cold day. Everything was clean and tidy and the breakfast selection was very good

Stayed 4 nights mid February and left very happy. Ground floor room was spacious and heating was easy to control. Comfy bed and plenty of storage. Shower was good but no hot water from the washbasin taps, maybe I should have reported it/complained but it really wasn’t a major deal breaker Breakfast was included and was really good, Sausage, bacon, scrambled egg, baked beans, tomato, hash browns, decent coffee (from a machine), bread, bread rolls, pastries, fruit, yogurt, orange juice and more. Although the car park was almost full every night it was never too crowded in the breakfast area. Toby carvery was two minutes walk away, service wasn’t the best but no complaints about the food. Yes the nearby road is very busy but the windows were very good at blocking out the noise. Would definitely return

I’ve stayed at this particular Holiday Inn a number of times when visiting my dad in Braintree, usually with the kids in one of the “family rooms.” The rooms are always very clean and tidy, and we consistently have a comfortable night’s sleep. The bar area, however, is quite dull and the beer is poor. Breakfast is fairly average, but perfectly acceptable. If you’re simply looking for a clean, comfortable place to sleep with no frills, you can’t really go wrong with this hotel.
