“Good 1 night stay.”

Booked at the last minute and stayed 1 night when attending a party at a different venue. The rooom was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very good. Staff were polite and attentive . The hotel was a convenient distance to the party but the parking was a bit limited as the hotel was full.

Stayed in this hotel to visit Bath and Bath horse racing! Maps said 7 miles away from the races, £20 uber into Bath then £20 from bath to the races! So not best hotel if your going to the races. Rooms old fashioned but clean, Breakfast good but not as per the photos on the website! Reception is on… lisää

Stayed in this hotel to visit Bath and Bath horse racing! Maps said 7 miles away from the races, £20 uber into Bath then £20 from bath to the races! So not best hotel if your going to the races. Rooms old fashioned but clean, Breakfast good but not as per the photos on the website! Reception is only open for a short while and it’s a bit of a faff getting in and your room key late at night! Luckily for us someone on there second night came along and knew how to get in. Car park is small but you can park on the local roads! Bar closed early (8is Saturday night) when we stayed which was disappointing.

“Frankly disappointing . . .”

I've just returned from staying at this place, and have reluctantly awarded it three gongs - on the gounds that it would be unfair to rate the Grasmere as poor, but on the other side of the coin I wouldn't say it was "very good" and that I had a great stay there. I booked two rooms here for three nights at £120.00 per room per night (B&B). When travelling to the location, about an hour away on the M5 at around 5.30pm, I received a call from the Receptionist saying that she was closing the reception and would be leaving shortly and that she needed to give me instructions to retrieve my room key. Hmmm . . . . not really what I was expecting when I booked here. "I'll be another hour or so before I get there, will we be able to have dinner?" "No, the restaurant is closed tonight (Sunday) and on Mondays' to Thursdays" (which covered the entire duration of my stay)."Oh, I wasn't aware of that - it wasn't clear when I booked. Is the bar open?" "No, that's closed too". When we arrived we found we were the only people in an empty, locked down, building (we thought it was the setting for the Lady in Black) where we could only get access to the front door and our respective rooms - the bar, lounge and garden/terrace were all inaccessible - "We lock all of this when we close in the evenings" was the explanation. Rooms were OK, although a little more TLC from the housekeeper wouldn't go amiss - check under the beds . . where I found an uneaten pastie, presumably left by the previous occupant, sitting there sweating away the following morning. The breakfasts that we were served were hit and miss, and even I draw the line at eating el-cheapo sausages that had obviously been dropped into the deep fat fryer for convenience or reheated. Not pleasant. The continental breakfasts presented to us before we checked out were probably around a half of what my sister was served with the previous morning and looked to be an afterthought on the part of whoever was working in the kitchen. Working in the hospitality trade myself, it's usually obvious to me when people are cutting corners and bending things in. I should say for balance that all of the staff we met were polite and charming. I've got to return to the Bristol later in the year for another round of medical treatment but I won't be returning to the Grasmere. It's has the facilities, and a lot of potential, but based on my three day visit one could be forgiven for concluding that it's being run on a shoestring to the detrement of its paying guests. For £120.00 a night it's possible to book into a hotel in the area that offers a full suite of facilities, that are open in the evenings, and which is adequately staffed.

First thing to say is that the price does reflect the quality of the hotel and so it was a very fair price at £85 for the room. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They were great. First thing to say is that the price does reflect the quality of the hotel and so it was a very fair price at £85 for the room. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They were great. The hotel itself is dated and very random because everything has been done on a cheap budget. The bed was really comfortable. The shower was not very good at all and the bathroom is very dated. We did have to open the toilet cistern to get the sticking valve to refill the cistern with water. Cheap price and comfortable sleep so happy with that.
