Stayed at the Black Horse Inn from 13/08/2025-16/08/2025 with a friend of mine. Really lovely and quaint B&B located in a quiet street in Canterbury. You are only approx 7 mins walk away from Canterbury West Train Station, and approx 10 mins from the city centre. My friend and I stayed in Room 9 which was on the ground floor and had a nice view of the garden area. It was nice to sit in the garden during the hot weather. The room was of a good size and the added bonus was there was a fridge in the room. The furnishings are quite dated, but you’re not going there simply to admire the paintwork. The en-suite was good, however I found for myself that the shower was very small, I’m not the skinniest of people so struggled with it. Bed was comfortable, I could’ve had it a bit softer but that’s personal preference. There’s no shower mat inside the shower and I was frightened of slipping over. Breakfast was fantastic, really delicious fare! I’ve knocked a star off for a few things: the blinds in Room 9 are stained and filthy, and the net curtains need replacing. The bed near the fridge in Room 9 is very creaky and noisy, I was worried I was waking my friend up every time I turned over. Another reason is the parking around the B&B is residents parking or parking machines that don’t pay by card. Yes there are areas that are free but as I’ve never ever been to Canterbury before I was frightened I would get a ticket. It would’ve been nice if Canterbury City Council offered visitor permits. I parked at the train station so it wasn’t too big of a deal for me. Another reason is there wasn’t anyone to warmly welcome you to the B&B; you were just given a set of instructions on how to access your room. Check in time is really weird as well. I came from the East Midlands and you couldn’t get into your room until 7PM. I’d driven over 200 miles to get there, I was exhausted and had to wait. If I’m back down Kent way I’d consider staying again.

“Charming Inn in Canterbury”

We so enjoyed our stay at the Black Horse Inn. It was an easy walk to the cathedral and the car park at the train station. Our room was small but charming. We had two double doors that opened onto the garden. The breakfast was very good and the staff so friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay… lisää

We had two double doors that opened onto the garden. The breakfast was very good and the staff so friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there in the future.
