This was our third visit to the Rudloe Arms, food amazing, hotel atmospheric and unique, staff all extremely helpful and accommodating. Luciano came over to talk to us as he recognised we had stayed before, shook our hands and was genuinely lovely. Marco was sat in the lounge and waved. If you are expecting a premier inn, you will be disappointed. But if you like art, dimly lit atmospheric country houses, serving great food, then this fits the bill perfectly. Have to say anywhere else I have stayed, pales in comparison.

Location: Total lack of signage from Leafy Lane. Atmosphere: Marco Pierre White bought the venue approximately 14 years ago. Back then I suspect it attracted keen interest. Location: Total lack of signage from Leafy Lane. Atmosphere: Marco Pierre White bought the venue approximately 14 years ago. Back then I suspect it attracted keen interest. Now the Main House lacks TLC and the grounds are overgrown. Both in urgent need of refurbishment and the grounds are overgrown. Accomodation: Both the public areas and our room displayed numerous rather quirky adult-only David Bailey photographs which some might find challenging. The bedroom was full of knick-knacks and ornaments. Suspect some of these had been taken by previous occupants which probably explains the unexpected charge on arrival of the £100 room deposit. The lighting in the room was poor and the sound of the plumbing was very loud. At one time we were woken up early in the morning when we mistook the noise as being the sound of a military aircraft taking off from the nearby Lyneham airforce base. Dining, Bar, & Breakfast: The main reason behind our booking was to experience excellent cuisine. The general standard was excellent although the range on offer was somewhat limited. The excellent hamhock terrine starter prompted a request for melba toast. The offer of sauce bernaise with pork in contrast to the chimichurri sauce served with the fillet steak was unusual. The bar and wine prices were wildly overpriced and the wine list lacked any of the usual details one would expect to justify the cost. The poached eggs served with crushed avocado or grilled mushroome listed on the Residents Breakfast Menu were exceptional. However the £25 supplement for a specialty cooked full English breakfast was somewhat surprising. This pailed into insignificance when compared with the proposed supplemental £99 charge per person for anyone minded to order a second breakfast! Staff: Dinner was almost at full capacity and around 40 sat down for breakfast in the morning. Rather dour and generly uninterested. Few if any smiles were offered. The two who served breakfast rushed around reminding me of the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland. Parking: No charge however strongly advise not to park under the trees unless you are planning to clean your car on your return home. Conclusion: Urgent need of refurbishmant. Not for the faint hearted or for those expecting Marco Pierre White equivalent standard of cuisine.
