A beautiful old Manor House that has been renovated to a modern style inside. We stayed 3 nights and had such a lovely time. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, staff all so friendly and attentive. Breakfast was delicious with the offer of continental style buffet and then ordering from the menu for a freshly cooked option. I loved the avocado eggs :) We had days out and then came back to swim and sit by the pool a read … we were so lucky with the weather! Treated ourselves to a massage which was one of the best I’ve ever had! We didn’t eat in the restaurant in the evening, but walked to nearby pub Green Dragon which was very good. Everything was perfect, the only downside being the very dimly lit bedroom (and bar area). It was impossible to read in the bedroom or do make up easily. It’s a shame such a small thing which could easily be rectified affects so many people’s experiences of this wonderful hotel.

“Cream tea”

Went with friends for tea. 3 of us had cream tea (£14) and 1 an afternoon tea (£40) on a 3 tier stand. The scones were amazing, baked on premises & generous portion of jam and cream. Went with friends for tea. 3 of us had cream tea (£14) and 1 an afternoon tea (£40) on a 3 tier stand. The scones were amazing, baked on premises & generous portion of jam and cream. The afternoon tea had a good assortment of sandwiches and toasties and pate and a generous amount of food. Dogs are allowed on the venue but not in the restaurant area. Parking was tight and busy. Staff all nice, and helpful and relaxed. The building is beautiful, grounds are well kept and spacious with a river running through and loads of green spaces and woodland, inside the decor is quite unusual…..old wood doors and high ceilings etc but the restaurant tables are some plasticky type Formica wipe clean tables which just don’t fit the setting and cheapens the whole experience. However overall I enjoyed it.

“Vaping!”

One of our favourite hotels! Lovely grounds to explore and an eclectic style. One downside during our visit on the 2nd April; there is a lovely terrace overlooking the gardens, people vaping! The smells are quite disgusting. Surely vaping / smoking should be confined to a very specific area so as n… lisää

The smells are quite disgusting. Surely vaping / smoking should be confined to a very specific area so as not to interfere with other guests? Needs some thought from the management.
